It's true, this team is not at the level of LA/CHI/STL/SJ this year. Next year will be their last legit shot with this core with Booth off of the books and Corrado coming up, there's cap space to sign/trade and finally put together a decent 2nd line.

JVR is outproducing Edler this year. No need to change anything. This is all about acceptance and accuracy. JVR is younger, and considering he outproduced Edler last year too, I think it's a realiable trend of whats to come in the future.

We're using the same formula you used. You know...the one where Edler is a career 40-50pt dman...except that he's a 38pt dman.

Here's the formula though...just in case you're having trouble:

[career points / career games] x 82

Edler - 38
JVR - 46

If we just take a simple average (career points / # of seasons):

Edler - 26.875
JVR - 31.8

Now let's take a look at both your claims and see whether the above numbers support your thesis:

1. Edler is a 40-50pt dman - NOPE
2. Edler averages more points than JVR - NOPE

You need to get real lucky in the draft, and then real lucky with trades and then get a good coach... and have all the players buy into it and be willing to work.
