Oh for sure. Everyone knows a good goalie is about the equivalent of a leprechaun with a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Then again, winning 5-2 is barely escaping with victory. - systemtool
I don't think goaltending stole the win last night. |

Really, Leafs are up by 5 on the last playoff spot. The Flyers have 3 game sin hand and are down only by 5 points. The Rags have 1 game in hand. The Leafs have to get it together to even have a look at the playoffs.. - bixll
Philly has to win ALL their games in Hand to catch the leafs. Tall order. |

yeah...Bernier played great. Reimer is surely not happy with how this is going, though Im sure he saw it coming. |

Leafs had more scoring chances and scored more times on those chances.
Bernier was very good but i don't think the leafs were lucky to win with a game stolen by the goalie. |

Yup. Looking at the reality of the situation rather than hammering myself down with negativity.
I'm definitely the drunk one here. |

He came up with huge saves when he had to. Carolina could've easily been back in that game. Big save on Staal was pretty impressive. |

and again, even if they do pass the Leafs, it doesn't knock us out of the playoffs, because they're in one of the top-3 positions. What they do has no effect on the wildcard teams. |

yea, when you score 4 goals, it's hard to credit the win entirely to the goalie. |

Bernier had a solid game but the shot thing was deceiving as many of them where pretty easy shots to handle..
One of the rare games where the Leafs where outshot but imo they where the better team and had the most legit scoring chances ..
That said they have issues they need to work on..RC seems to know the answer he just needs to get the group to fix it..
Carlyle sees his team as too easy to play against, and again and again, he isn’t afraid to say it.
“That seems to be the mandate for teams coming in here: Try to force us to play as much defence and in our own zone [as much as possible] and pinch their d-men down the walls,” he said. “It’s no secret. And we haven’t been able to handle that or manage the game properly in that area. We’ve got to get better at it.” |

I guess it was but imo last night while being outshot they where clearly the better team. Not sure it was that way early on in season with some of the wins.... |

Agreed. Bernier was there when needed and came up big when he had to but he didn't steal the game.
Leafs certainly could have been better defensively but they out chanced the canes.

Notice how it was all negatives? If you're going to sit there and point out flaws and negatives, and ignore all positives, thats what you end up with. Where does one check goals given up in the last minutes of a game anyways? - systemtool
not on an nhl website... it's a stat that is only kept track of for the leafs by the couple of hundred retards that get to go to the games for free and report on them. |

If there weren't issues with this team we would be the Chicago Blackhawks. Hell, even the Penguins have issues with their team. Did anyone expect the Toronto Maple Leafs to be a flawless reflection of perfection?
I think the positives are our goaltending, over coming the adversity of our injuries and suspensions, our young roster, the progression of guys like Rielly, the fact we've done well despite our offense not being as good as they could be.
The Leafs situation isn't a rosy glorious one, but it's far from the doom the media makes it out to be. We have issues sure, and we will continue to have them for awhile. Most teams that aren't Cup contenders do. poop, all teams that arent contenders do. Im not saying we should ignore the teams issues, but I am saying we should still be able celebrate wins and feel a little good after one instead of the media telling us to stop it and remember to feel poopty instead. - systemtool
