By default, although Grossman, for his limitations, (lack of speed), has been a warrior, Kimmo has really been consistent after a slow tart, & I like Gus's mobility in smaller minute role. - puckhead17
I would vote Coburn over Timonen, but both of them along with Grossmann are, by far, the most reliable on the team. I like Grossmann, but offensive possessions seem to die when he's given room in the offensive zone. I don't recall many of his point shots getting through. |

I'd like to see Hartnell with Couts.
Couts has the ability to slow things down, control the puck and then whip the puck to the crease. His deliberate style of play would allow 19 time to get in front of the goalie.
Not sure how great of a shut down line it would be, but I think their games would compliment each other. |

Yup
I hate when Streit passes up his shot and sends it to G-NN.

It seems like Schenn is pretty steady throughout the game, but will inevitably give up an odd man rush with a stupid play. - PhillySportsGuy
hey, he did a successful spin move earlier in that shift exiting the d zone AND he was hooked on the TO. stick right across the hands. if he played for the devils or pens there would have been a call |

He's very limited, but man you have to love a guy that throws himself into all shots like a bulldog, although the shot that hit him & in (3rd goal) was ugly, they really need to do or figure out something will Luke & "just a point shot nothing else" Streit |

He's a very good complimentary player. I wouldn't be too upset to see him switch places with Raffl. I just don't understand why Berube would break up the two good lines we've had in order to keep Schenn's line intact. - PhillySportsGuy
Yup, doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. That line, though not horrible, just doesn't seem to be as threatening (imposing) as they should be. And although Simmonds is heating up, 6 of his 12 goals have been on the PP. I'd really like to see more production, from the team as a whole, 5 v 5.

Kinda underselling Raffl's angle and rooftop shot a bit.
2 points is 2 points, and the Flyers needed them. Now it's time to focus on Vancouver.
PS - Coburn sucks. He's just absolutely horrible because he's big, fast, young, signed to a good cap hit for the next 2 seasons after this one, is durable, eats up a lot of minutes every game, and occasionally makes a mistake.
Coburn sucks. - wolfhounds
Coburn was still on EST when he skated onto the ice. A bit slow to react to Hall's speed, but he recovered well enough to play a nice game after that.
I have no idea what LSchenn could have possibly been thinking of with that move.
All in all, dumb penalties and a few d-lapses at terrible times aside, the Flyers played a pretty good game.
Breeze looked typically shaky early on, settled down nicely, and gave to Oil a chance to win. His stick toss and his dressing down Perron after a play in front of his net epitomizes all I've ever disliked about him. Despite all the disturbing reasons why the lockout took place, it at least when settled it allowed us to rid ourselves of that contract. |

With 3 minutes left in the game, you don't want to put yourself in a position where you're relying on the ref to make a call in order to stop a breakaway. You need to play it conservatively and just dump it around. It's not like the Oilers dmen were able to leave their own zone. They are worse than the Flyers at beating a forecheck. |

I don't think Vinny looks as comfortable on the wing. He also hasn't made the Couturier line more of a scoring threat. I would much rather see Downey return to that line and allow them to be the shutdown line they were before. Now that G and Jake are scoring, we don't need to look for more scoring in other places. |

In reference to Bryzgalov, yes, any downplaying of his actions here, (or only
being referred as rumor) was apparent already last night, & imagine, he hasn't been their very long. |

Grossmann would be perfect if we had a true offensive defenseman who could skate and make plays. I wish we had future Ghost on this roster |

The penalties are infuriating. How many times did they take offensive zone penalties or neutral zone penalties? This team has no discipline.
On a side note, how frustrating was it that the Flyers couldn't score on breakaways against Bryz when he never stopped one as a Flyer? I'm just glad they were able to beat him in a shootout or it would have been pathetic. |

Yeah, because he could be in the move, it's a shame, he isn't horrible, it's just he was handed too much $ here & asked to make up for our defensive shortcomings, last night also epitomizes his lack of lateral movement, but on a straightaway shot, he relies on his large frame, as Couts saw no net on his 2 breakaways
He'll have the same issues in Edmonton, a team that can't defend very well & he can't be asked to move around in the crease like Mason or Bobrovsky |

I don't think he's even an average goalie right now. He's very slow to react. He goes post to post slower than almost every goalie in the NHL. I think on a night where the Flyers shot better, it could have been 7-3.
On another note, the Oilers are absolutely horrible. They need help in ,literally, every area. Defense, goaltending, two-way forwards, net crashers, power forwards. |

So we're going to shred Schenn for his dumb play that led to a non goal breakaway and praise Grossmann for his grit and toughness despite his moronic "shot block" that gave the Oilers a 3-2 lead late in the third?
I'd be happy to get rid of both |
