Shattie for Hartnell?
thanks for the laugh you cheered me right up - Marc D
Duh
No, a package, pick young player, something, how about one of our D and Hartnell for shattie? Maybe u never know, a month ago would anyone want Hartnell the way he was playing?
Edit no offense, Shattenkirk is nice but he's not Karlsson, or Weber, or even Pietrangelo, or even Enstrom, he's not a super defensive defenseman, nor an all star, but he would be an nice addition to our top 4, so a package of Hartnell & something may get something moving, who knows? |

Its a 5.25 million cap hit for Streit. To me, they need to admit the mistake, and buy him out in the off-season.
You may already have an anchor in Hartnell, and LeCavalier if injuries re-surface. Add Streit to that mix and its (frank)ing 14.5 million toward the cap.
Even if that goes up its horrific. Need to shed Streit... - flyer_nutter
How many more buy outs can Mr. Snyder take? I'm sure his head was about to explode after the Oil took the lead in the third knowing he was paying Breeze for the pleasure of possibly beating us that game. |

I think he's prone to really dumb mistakes at really bad times. The puck mistakes are what they are, but there's a few unforced icings late in games and a few memorable blown coverages that ended up in the net.
One was in the 2-1 win over the Pens-the only goal Pittsburgh got was because Grossmann left Crosby. There's been a few others, too.
I love the heart and effort Grossmann brings...but I do feel that he gets praised a bit more than he deserves. And yes, I might be a bit too harsh.
And yes, Streit's play has been a bigger issue than Grossmann's. Zero question about it. - Jsaquella
That was a bad read but it took a great pass from Malkin to make it happen. On the flip side, he had nuetralized Malkin countless times. Without his effort there, maybe Malkin produces more opportunities and the Pens capitalize. Who knows its conjecture and what ifs from that point, but I think grossmann has been very solid |

Did Nail see the ice at all during the third period? I can't recall his name being mentioned. |

I actually do like Grossmann. My issue isn't with Grossmann himself. My issue is with people singling out Schenn & Streit repeatedly for shame and giving Grossmann a pass because he's physical and blocks shots. - Jsaquella

It would be great but I don't see St Louis trading him unless we are sending Couturier back or something similar.
Hartnell plus our first round pick, they might be interested, but even then I doubt it.
Teams just aren't moving young D that can play. |

The big question.
I think the ego of ownership will loom largely. Even if they could buy him out, it would just make them look more stupid. |

If they have a true interest they see a fit, even if many others don't. - ob18
I meant a fit for the flyers.
I would move on from hartnell. But I don't know what young dmen they'd be willing to part with cause that is what we would need. Ian cole? I'm not sure how he's looked this year. |

Canada going up against Slovakia tomorrow in the WJC.
Would love for the Slovaks to shove it up the ass of hockey Canada. Who has had questionable management at best in recent years. Maybe it will help shift the game toward the elitist family movement its taking. |

They aren't, plus correcting myself Shattenkirk is having a career year, his scouting report is high offense, gets outmuscled in the defensive zone & sometimes pinches when he shouldn't leaving a break the other way, I wonder what trade value the Shenn's have?
I don't want to move Courturier, but, when he's hot, he's tough to move off the puck, when he's cold, he misses open nets, tough to access. |

well the Czechs did a number, so now it is up to the Slovaks
but I think Canada is switching out goalies for this game |

hartnell will find his game again and we'll regret it if we trade him. guys like hartsy and simmonds are hard to find and we have 2 of them. I'm not giving him up for peanuts just because he's slumping. It would have to be a deal that makes this team better. my 2 cents. |

If they move Couts the GM should be fired
In fact that is how I rationalize the Streit deal in my mind
Flyers got Streit but that allowed them to keep Couts |

Personally, I don't consider Luke Schenn anything close to solid, for even a lower pairing d-man. Its Ryan Parent all over again. A guy who I actually thought would develop at the time.
I have no doubts in my mind that if you called up Lauridsen, that he would outplay Schenn right now. - flyer_nutter
I agree. I want lauridsen up. Why not send luke to the AHL to work on his game? No one will claim him. If they do so what. Lauridsen has now had enough professional time under his belt. He's paid his dues. Lets see what he can bring |

There is that train of thought. I used to like Hartnell, one of my favourite players.
I just see him going the way of Erik Cole, Clowe and Malone. |

No, the Streit move was & is a waste, bad decision, & I don't see it getting any better, I would rather move him sooner then later, lets make a move, something to get a better guy to play some minutes, Streit shouldn't have came here under any curcumstance, to quote mike mil bury, he's as soft as goose poop.
As for Hartnell, we have to give to get, & someone mentioned we have he & Simmonds, we actually have 3 in Downie as well, wingers that play with an edge.
Easier to get a 3rd line winger then a top 4 D man I think. |

I'd be for trading grossmann for a prospect or pick (frees up cap space too) before sending luke down. I do want to see lauridsen in the nhl lineup, alt too. Our current D is what it is.. and thats bad. Why not give these guys a chance? |

Yea. I didn't have the problem with Grossmann's deflection as much as I had with LSchenn's pirouette.
Grossmann is paid to block shots. He does it very well. He laid out earlier and blocked a high quality shot from between the circles, taking the painful hit in the high shoulder area, eliminating a possible goal. His awkward lay down across the front of the net may not have been his best decision, but at least it was a defensive move. And a common one at that.
LSchenn is not paid to perform Bobby Orr or Serge Savard-esq spinoramas, especially at that time of the game at the top of the blue line with nobody behind him. Like Grossmann, he is paid to be a stay at home d-man who can take the offensive when the situation is right. And that wasn't it. |

Im out for today, but really don't hate the hate for Grossmann.
Ever since he was brought here, he has been on most nights the best d-man in helping keep the puck out of the Flyers net. Maybe Coburn this season.
If we are talking about getting more minutes for the kids, those should be coming from say Meszaros or Streit. |
