US has produced some serious players over the past decade.. I think in 10 year we will see a big shift in power. The US development program is amazing. - jak521
For sure, a lot of their prospects just seem so unknown compared to Canada's |

Any chance Hagg or Vasiliev come over next year for the Phantoms? - Just5
Hagg wanted to play this year and next in the SEL. No clue about the Ruskie. |

Canadian media does nothing but promote their sports figures. They're far more nationalistic than the US when it comes to that. They don't just cover the NBA, they cover Canadians in the NBA.
No media in the US promotes young US born hockey players. You won't hear NBC touting the next US prospects on a regular basis. Can't get away from it with Canadians on NHL Network. |

From a Canadian bias, I think the USA play better hockey and have better chemistry in The world jr because of the developmental program. They also seem to have smaller offensive players. However, the Canadians will always produce better overall nhl players |

Two games in a row Coburn does the exact same thing in front of his own net, and people are talking about how bad Mezsaros is? Coburn is just flat out stupid. The D to D pass is his only play. He'd be better off icing the puck. How is he allowed to have another shift after that? How much longer does his contract run? |

Well they only have, what, 9 teams in the 4 major leagues and then the CFL. So they don't have as much to cover. The US promotes its college football players just fine, as it's our country's most popular game.

They have all 4 major sports to cover plus the CFL plus curling. They have plenty to cover. They go out of their way to promote their native sons. It's intentional, it's part of their make up as a nation. It has nothing to do with how much sports they have to cover. Really? |

I agree! They should settle it with a fight.
Give value back to the Rosehill's and Shelley's of the NHL. - Moose_15
+1! But it has to be the goalies. Emery could win a lot of games.

I've softened my stance on Coburn this season--earlier in the season I called him a faster Chris Therien without a slap-shot.
But for the most part--Coburn's played quite well this year. I'm inclined to chalk this up as a "bad week" for him because he's been their best D-man thus far this season.
Meszaros seemed to make everyone he played with worse, however. |

They're bad mistakes, but he's allowed to have another shift because he's generally been one of our best defensemen, if not the best on the team. Not exactly a lofty title, I know. |

How many of their 18 year old basketball and football players do they tout on tsn? They don't have a big football league like the NFL and only have 1 Canadian team in the NBA and ml which gives them more room for young players in their most popular sport. |

I dont have a problem with Noseburn, but I can see why people do. I think the key is to not expect much from him. For example... If you expect Grossmann to be your number 1 guys, you would be very angry and disapointed in him. Yet if you expect him to be a solid defensive shot blocking d-man, then your happy. I expect Noseburn to be a number 4 d-man. So I'm not disapointed. But I wouldnt mind trading him in an upgrade. |

Absolutely, I agree 100%. But come on man...and Chris Pronger had zero career turnovers. |

I'd like to see them roll:
Coburn / Grossman
Timonen / Schenn
Streit / Gusty (when healthy)
Not sure what to do with Meszaros--won't boost his confidence sitting out. But man, has he been brutal to watch this season. |

I DID watch the whole game. What's your point? The man's an idiot. Everybody knows that D to D pass is coming. He's been doing it for years, regardless of the circumstances. How many times has he sandbagged his partner by feeding him a puck when he was already covered, instead of, I don't know, skating it up?
Mez has hardly played this season, and somehow he's the worst D man, while Coburn and Streit are giving the puck away like it's made of plutonium.

Agreed. I think it's just a bad stretch of games. Maybe he turns it around against his hometown team tonight.
He's got great wheels for a player his size and his reach is a huge advantage that can't be coached. |

Some of it may just be the more cynical nature of the media in the US.
Nothing to back it up other than my own observation, but flag waving and such is not always looked upon kindly in the US in the media.
Unless, it's the Olympics and writers have stories to file...... |
