If you're covering major North American sports on a one hour show how do you have less to cover whether you're in Detroit or Toronto. I'd rather vigorously argue that they cover MORE sports than a US broadcast. They give full coverage to the NFL, NHL, NBA and MLB plus US and Canadian college sports, CFL, Curling and Soccer along with the CHL and International play which all get far less coverage in the US. - mayorofangrytown
How about this... If you live in Quebec how are you likely to pick your favorite basketball Team. Does it have to be the only Toronto team? Maybe you pick the Lakers because your a Steve Nash fan. So the Canadian media covers Canadian players because Canadian veiwers outside of Toronto will likely much rather see the teams that have some kind association with where they are from.
Its like how a lot of people here in Delaware are Ravens fans because Flaco went to U of D, so locale Delaware newspapers will cover ..yes the Eagles, but also Baltimore. |

I sure love those 35+ contracts.
Oh boy, oh boy. - Moose_15
Could be worse. Phaneuf could have gotten to Ufa and the flyers could have signed him to a 7 ur contract. Ugh. If I was a leafs fan I'd be livid over that one. I don't think phaneuf is worth that money and term unless you are looking to sign a pretty boy underachieving dman cause you like his acting on 24/7 |

But Phaneuf solves all our problems!
He would be the instant scapegoat on our D for years to come! |

Yep, that's exactly what I'm saying.
Edit: I'd say most people on this thread watch their share of Canadian hockey coverage so we're all soaking up that bias. Hence we're more familiar with Canadian national players. |

Schenn was a minus 3 because he was paired with Meszaros--who blew his coverage on two goals.
The third goal is just bad luck.
Put Schenn back with Timonen (like last year) and let him simplify his game--(hit, pass to Timonen, repeat). - Moose_15
We all know the defense is a dreadful mix. Square pegs, for round holes. It's testament to Mason and Giroux for the turnaround. Other guys have played well too, like Simmonds, Read, Couturier, and Raffl. |

Don't worry, Buff will have that covered after we trade our top winger, a young center, and some high picks for him. |

I'm saying, despite covering a wider variety of sports on a regular basis they bias their coverage toward their native sons and do a hell of a job of it. - mayorofangrytown
Why wouldn't they be bias? It's what Canadians want to see. |

It all started with the Downie trade.

He's on that tier after the elite defensemen, but is hailed (and now paid) as an elite one. |

I know. That's what I'm saying. There's nothing wrong with it. I like it. Wouldn't hurt if the US national coverage spent a little more time on our American born players. Then maybe we'd know more kids from our national team which is my point from the beginning. |

Somethings to consider.
Why do players still wait for the puck to come to them? By the time the puck gets to the player, an opponent has time to get right up on him, or take the puck away from him. A bad habit to get into.
It's still hard to find a player that will go to the front of the net. Only Hartz, and Simmonds are consistent in doing so. More guys have to step up, or it's going to continue to be one, and done. Or, we make the back-up goalie look like a superstar.
Stop over skating the puck guys. Man, if someone gets that excited to have the puck come their way, then they need to be on some meds. They either take off without the puck, or over pursue the puck, and allow for an odd man rush going the other way. Slow down a little, and think about what you are doing.
Forwards, quit watching the puck, and pick up the guy on the weak side. How many times does a guy go to the back door, and score on Mace. Too, many times.
Now don't throw rotten tomatoes at me, but I don't know if G has his game going, or is upset that he might not be in the Olympics. However, his play has picked up recently, and is playing like the player that we know, and love. The real test will be if he goes to the Olympics, and what he does after the Olympics. If he only works hard for select games, then he has a spoiled player problem.
Thanks for listening.

I think it has everything to do with him slicing up his hand in the off-season and rushing back.
He had no whip on his shot for the first 15 games this season. |

ESPN didn't show a single highlight from the Junior Tournament yet to my knowledge. They did waste 45 seconds talking about some bullpoop division 3 basketball game where the final score was 116-12 |

Agreed.
I still believe he was more injured than originally reported.
Also, I think having two functional linemates has helped.
Raffl on that line has surprised me, greatly. |
