Backes was first. Johnson, Yandle, and Ryan snubbed in favor of Faulk, Fowler, and Wheeler - JAKEw1234
ok thought backes was called
fowler I can see why he was picked but i think yandle would be better than orpik |

Looking at that US Olympic team, it's not a surprise that Dave Poile's been an NHL GM for 600 years and never won a (frank)ing thing.
Brooks Orpik over Yandle?
Paul Statsny & Blake Wheeler over Bobby Ryan?
Two injured goalies who haven't played well this season?
Jesus, I'm happy I root for the Olympic team that has the most Flyers |

Id be so mad if I were Ryan. He's having a good year. I don't understand how Wheeler or Stepan gets in over him. They have Kesler, Pavelski, Backes and stastny at center. |

Quick hasn't played in like 3 months. |

So the Flyers spent New Years Day in a Colorado hotel....
Hopefully this guy delivered room service to Rosehill.

Both Quick and Howard are coming off injuries, and neither has played very well this season...or even last season, TBH.
Bishop & Schneider would be better choices. |

I could see Blake Wheeler -- I think he's a good player and will do well -- but I'm totally baffled by Brooks Orpik on a larger ice surface.
I don't think Orpik's a bad player, but his skating is just...average. You have a chance to take a guy like Keith Yandle -- goals are going to be hard to come by, on the large ice surface, because teams always sit back. A defenseman that can carry the puck or join a rush...I would've taken Yandle, no question.

Even with the injuries I would still bring Quick. When he gets hot he is practically unbeatable and he thrives under high pressure situations. However, I totally would have chosen bishop over howard. The way bishop is playing in Tampa is just too impressive to ignore. |

Ryan and Yandle being omitted is completely moronic. |

I agree. I don't have a problem with Quick even though he's been injured. The hope is like you say if he gets hot he can steal the Gold. Not only has Bishop been healthy all year, he has outplayed Howard significantly. |

I'm reading and apparently they like Martin and Orpik's shutdown ability. They both play very well together on the Pens.
They also plan on using Pavelski on the point in PP situations. Therefore, they don't believe Yandle is necessary.

Honestly this may sound pessimistic but I dont see this roster doing any better than Silver this year. I think the exlusion of Ryan and Yandle is something they will be regretting down the road. |

I can see Wheeler, too.
Stastny makes no sense. It's not an awful team, but it could have been a lot better.

They are worried about Bishop because of last summer's IIHF Tournament. They didn't like that he had to be pulled in favor of Gibson. |
