Bieksa is 50lbs and I'm not sure I'd want a much bigger dog then that in the house. To each their own though. Lots of great big dog breeds.
Newfoundlanders are the most gentle dog in history and they are 200+ lbs

she couldn't hurt a fly and loves kids.

I suppose when she was just a puppy she got a little excited around them and didn't know her own size and frightened one or two. she knew something was wrong immediately and that was easily and quickly corrected.

I agree, but on the flip side people need to do a better job of teaching their kids to be careful with dogs.

We try to teach our little girl to stay away from our dogs when they eat, so when we go somewhere she knows you don't bother dogs when they're eating

Part of the reason for that is people treat big and small dogs different when in reality to the dogs that means absolutely nothing. People let small dogs jump on them which is dominance then the big dog does it and people freak out.

she can be a handful sometimes cause she always wants to cuddle and lay on us and doesn't know her own size.

See, I'm not sure if I'll get another Elkhound when Bieksa passes or Boston when Ludo passes. Love them but scared if I get the same dog, then I'm going to expect them to be the exact same dog.
We just got a new bedroom set. Bed is about 6-8" higher then the old one. Last night Luodo(Boston terrier) jumped out of bed in the middle of the night and must have forgot it was the new bed. It was a hell of a crash
