Same for Sam Reinhart. Sutter has continuely put him in the best situations with rather average results. Ekblad has probably been Canada's best defense man from start to finish in this tourny. Laughton and Lazer have played well. I guess the other thing we have to consider is Canada is awfully young. 2/3 of the team will be back next yr. And any team that gets the tending Canada has will never win

Reinhart looks pretty slow, he did not stick out at all offensively.

Griffin looked pretty good though.

No argument. Dion Phaneuf is the greatest defenseman in the history of the NHL. It is safe to say that no one will ever come close to his talent. It is a shame that he can only play for one team, he really should be allowed to suit up for all of the Canadian franchises. If he played for the Canucks they wouldn't need any other defensemen because Dion is so super awesome.

I said it the other day. Canada comes home with no medal, again.

As much as I hate to agree with you, i don't think we are going to beat the Russians if we play like we played today. Russia put up way more of a fight against Sweden.

Noticed how you didn't compare Dions numbers with Tanev, Bieksa, Hamhuis and Garrison

What about the last three years, why does only this year matter? Last full 82 game season Edler and Dion had very similar numbers, that doesn't matter to him though - this year only fits his argument because Edler's having an off year numbers wise with injuries.

I dont think I ever compared his numbers to Tanev..I believe it was you who tried to argue Tanev was worth Gardiner +

Career Dion .56ppg, Edler .47ppg

Edler is probably the best D-man in league history to never have scored 50 points

Gardiner isn't that good, but I guess you are stuck with defending him.

My favorite was the leaf fans saying if its MDZ for Gardiner then the Rangers better throw in a 1st+

Because Gardiner is so young. Yet MDZ has proven far more and is actually younger

semantics - they each average around half a point a game but Dion is worth 2 million more a year???

Over the past five years Dion hasn't reached 50 points, living off his first two years in Calgary. He's -11 over the past five years with 181 points. Edler is +18 with 183 points…but you still maintain he's worth 2 million more??? They both play tough minutes, so that's a wash.

Dion has a 50 pt season, 60 pt season, 20 goal season...6 seasons in double digit goals (edler has 2)...
