I don't buy the line of thinking that kept Bobby Ryan off this team, but when/if the US doesn't win gold, a lack of Bobby Ryan won't be the reason. - buffalofan19
This. It's not exactly like Canada leaving Crosby off the Canadian team in 06. |

Horrible job picking this team! There gonna be lucky to compete for Bronze. Wheeler,Martin and Orpik to name a few should NOT be on this team! Shero,Bylsma influence for Martin and Orpik, but a stupid influence! Yandle over both, not even close. Buff I agree with because he's a bad skater and lazy. Okposo and Ryan should be there over Wheeler, not even close - twpguy
I agree Orpik making the team seems a little sketchy, also you have a case for Wheeler. However, Martin is an all around solid defender which I see no downside too.. pending he comes back from injury 100%.

I'm just trying to change this ridiculous mindset that hockey people have at these tournaments that you need a bunch of Kris Draper, Kirk Maltby type mother(frank)ers.
It's totally unnecessary, and if canada's announced roster has these sort of guys over legitimately awesome players, I'm gonna trip out.
I don't care how it relates to Sens players. That team will be fine without Bobby ryan, when it won't be fine is when Brown/Callahan/Orpik/Fowler all end up on the ice against the Ovechkin, Sedin or Crosby lines on the big ice. It's going to be a bloodbath. |

For a Canadian, you sure have a lot of interest in the construction of team USA, which more than obviously is based solely on the Ryan snub. But you DGAF.
If you got two guys with talent, might as well take a guy who is more versatile and brings as many tools with him as possible. Common sense and really basic stuff. You still need guys to kill penalties and play shut down roles.
Seriously though, if you're going to tell people you dont give a (frank), then act like you DGAF. Thing is, teams like US and Canada have enough goal scorers they need Ryan just as much as they need a Callahan. But hey, you DGAF right? - systemtool
I hate agreeing with excitable Leafs fans, but I have to side with you on this. As an American.
Bobby Ryan left off for a special teamer?

I am happy Ryan gets 2 weeks to rest up, I remember when Hasek came back to the league, was dominating, and then went to the Olympics and suffered a 'groin' injury - and never returned to the NHL and cost us the playoffs (Emery took over lol) So as a Sens and Team Canada support thanks for not taking Ryan - though I know that as soon as someone gets injured he will be the first replacement. |

Care about what?
I called some guy out for being butt hurt over his home town guy.
Oh that's right, you're the hero.
Coming here and telling someone to ignore me, when you yourself couldn't ignore me. Bravo! |

As much as they have their own reasons to not choose Ryan and Yandle, I compared the equivalency of the third best american goal scorer (Ryan) to other international teams. That would be equivalent to Russia not taking Datsyuk, Sweden not taking Sedin... I mean this is just some of the dumbest hockey moves I've ever ever seen.

Wheelers a good shooter, got no problem with him on the team, I think there's more question marks on defense than offense for the US team. |

Bigger ice over in Sochi but they still have blue lines.

My thoughts exactly. Don't miss him. Wheeler sucks |

USA no longer has made the strangest lineup decision: Czech team takes Peter Nedved (age:42) and leaves off Vrbata and Hudler. |

I'll admit I'm a Jets homer but I will tell you this:
Blake Wheeler is deadly when he spools up. If he can blow past guys on NHL ice, wait till he gets a bit more room in Sochi.
If they left Ryan off for a lack of speed and intensity, Wheeler will bring a good helping of both.
