Definite concern. Hartnell can't forget what his game is. He starts thinking he's Mike Bossy and forgets he's got to be like Rick Tocchet, and get his nose dirty and put his ass in the goalie's face.
I have questions about Raffl's long term sustainability as a top line winger. But the kid's definitely a top 9 NHLer. - Jsaquella
He's certainly more cerebral than Hartnell. I think that's why he has good chemistry with Giroux and Voracek. They all seem to think on the same wavelength. If Raffl had a better shot, he would be a top line player. He has a head for the top line, but not the skill. |

Just a friendly reminder--Peter White was an AHL stud, too.
Landing a player like Shea Weber will need the same B. Schenn/Couturier/pick package. - Moose_15
I think he was being facetious with that Weber trade proposal.

If you had the pick of Weber or Jones, who would you take? Take everything into account. Age, salary, etc... - PhillySportsGuy
Jones. Not even a second thought |

Weber. Everything taken into account, Weber all day every day. Jones looks good. He looks very good. Younger, cheaper, unlimited upside.
Weber is a proven player, was robbed of a Norris Trophy, and is, to me, the most complete defenseman in the NHL (think a younger Chris Pronger). He has a mean streak that can't be taught. His slapshot is illegal in 14 countries. He is one of the best hitters in the game, and has an outside shot at having a letter on his jersey for Canada. So yeah, I'll take him, although Jones has a lot of promise. |

My invocation of Peter White is just to douse any and all talk of landing Shea Weber.
It will not happen until he is 35 and looking for a 5 year deal with a NTC/NMC |

Peter White was also playing center in a clutch and grab era when teams were loading up on huge bodies up the middle and on D.

I don't think Homer will be our GM by then. Pronger will be our GM. |

Flyers now have two confirmed Olympians. Michael Raffl named to Austrian team last week and now Mark Streit named to the Swiss team. |

Oh, I know that the Weber boat has passed and isn't coming back (here) for a number of reasons, the least of which is a trade package. I was just joking that Akeson could/may have an NHL future on a team starved for offense, but there was a few metric tons of sarcasm in the proposal. |

I hate NHL Olympic participation. HATE IT. I do expect at least three more Olympians to be announced, though. Giroux, Voracek & Timonen seem like locks. |

Well, I'm also biased, seeing as he's my favorite current non-Flyer. He and Dustin Brown are 1 and 2 on my wish list. Josh Gibson and John Carlson are tied for 3rd. |

With all due respect to Shea Weber, he's got nothing on Pronger in his prime... the tools are there, but Pronger had generational hockey sense and he was a much much much better distributor of the puck than Weber.
Jones is also not signed until he's 40-41 years old, and I think when all is said and done, his career will eclipse Weber's. |

Couturier should have made Team USA (I think he has dual citizenship, though I'm not sure if you have to pick for the OIC/IIHF). Also, any chance Lauridsen gets a spot? |
