I have another fish on the line. Kunitz = Messier.
I'm not sure if he's going to personal ban me too since I just pointed out Messier's best season came with Gretzky in LA, when he finished 2nd in league scoring to him. |

Was he sold or did he just walk?
That's a hefty loss. Whitecaps' future not looking too bright atm. |

Fair enough. Obviously you'd want any player coming in to have some grit.
I personally wouldn't classify him as one—the early knock that he doesn't use his size seems to be a thing of the past and he puts up decent hit totals, at least this season.
Just know that he used to have a reputation of being soft for his size.
Great skater, can shoot AND pass, and is young and signed long term to a decent contract.
I'd rather MG go after a player like this than a rental, but obviously the cost would be higher.
I think he'd fit great in the Canucks top 6 and would cost less than Kane. - Fosco
I mentioned Wheeler over the summer as a great target to fill the 2nd line playmaker role we needed then (and still need now). He's not soft, I've seen him play enough to know that. Sure he doesn't steamroll players but how many playmakers do?
Personally I'd love Gillis to work a package deal and get Wheeler + Ladd over here. Really think it would change our complexion over night. |

Well The Caps are saying he's still a cap. But Camillo released a picture on twitter today of himself weiring a mexican soccer kit of the team that he had been rumored interested in playing for.
Its one big clusterfuk. |

And he's Brazilian so no chance it was his childhood team or anything. Classy. |

Yeah, he's never looked soft from my viewings—can just remember comments from earlier in his career.
His hit totals this season are actually pretty impressive.
I'd actually prefer him to Ladd, not that I wouldn't like Ladd as well, but I think it would be too hard to acquire both.
I think the Canucks could put a decent package together for Wheeler.
Something involving a roster player, one of Gaunce/Cassels/Jensen, and the 2014 1st rounder?
I'd definitely be willing to give up the 2014 1st + for a young top-6 F signed long term. |

He's a good prospect, but I'm a bit higher on Gaunce and would trade either if it brought in a young top-6 F signed long term.
Canucks also signed Dane Fox, who's somewhat comparable to Cassels, despite being older and more of a shooter. Similar size, grittiness, and two-way ability.
They can afford to lose one if it benefits the team now AND in the future.
I'm a fan of Wheeler and think he'd be a valuable addition down the road when some of these prospects start breaking into the lineup. |

I have a bad feeling about moving Cassels ,like my bunions are aching or something.

Yeah, it's always a risk dealing prospects, for both teams involved.
They've also got decent C depth in the system. |

Hands down the best comment;

That's ok, I've still got Reimer, Anderson, Lindback and Khudobin. I think I've got a player coming off the IR soon, so just in time to switch roster spots |

Sorry I wasn't able to get back to you earlier (they have very strict Internet-use parameters at the convalescent home facility I'm at )
In any event, I need to keep Prust, as he's pretty much my only penalty-minute source (unless Sam Gagner suddenly becomes Dave Semenko )

Agreed if it's an either or situation that Wheeler is the guy but I get the feeling the Jets have been stuck in mediocrity long enough that they could be tempted by the right off. Edler + Jensen + 2014 1st would be my opening offer for the pair of them. I'd also pony up up Tanev if they bargained harder. |

I was looking for a 2-1 deal as I've got someone coming back from IR, but now that Nabakov might be hurt I might be ok. I just noted that you may want an additional goalie, and I have quite a few. If there's something there let me know, I'm not looking for a blockbuster player in return... |
