Our future down the middle is Hank - Horvat - Cassels. Purely wishful thinking on my part but Kesler on Horvats RW would be sweet. Cassels looks to be a good third liner, again wishful hopeful feelings on my part. Much to early to speculate on those two kids.

I think you may be under-estimating Gaunce a little. He could end up being a solid player.

The NTC makes it difficult to get equal value for Edler. An added hindrance to something MG already seems to struggle with.
- Fosco

He's on a sweet contract though, that's the payoff. He's a 6+ million dollar dman in a 70+ million dollar cap world.

IMO we should be trying to trade for a top six LW'er, as our prospect pool (or lack there of) is pretty void on the left side.

Sedin Sedin Wheeler might work and move Burrows to his natural Left side on the second

I keep forgetting about him, his foot speed makes me like him on the wing better.

It should be the max offer from a team that won't make it past the first round. wheeler is not a series changer for Canucks
- VANTEL

He'd be a solid part of the future that would make his line that much better.

They're aren't many "series changers" in the league and those that are fetch retarded returns. I don't think we should or even could get any of them but adding solid pieces in key areas should be the focus. Wheeler is a bonafide top 6 playmaker and would be the best player Gillis would have brought in since Ehrhoff.

Gaunce is likely a C in the NHL—his skating issues are less of a factor there. That new guy, Dane Fox is also both a W and a C, and has as good a shot to make it as Cassels.

Grenier can also play C, but is less effective there.

Not exactly stacked, but they can afford to trade a C prospect not named "Horvat," if it brings in a valuable piece that helps now and in the future.

Ya I'm all for trading anyone not named Horvat, team is not getting any younger, need to make the playoffs and give it a shot while we can. One more established top six player would do wonders for the team IMO. Tough dealing for one though!

Especially when your GM is obsessed with the diamond-in-the-tough reclamation project philosophy.

The value of first rounders in the pool is all over the place if you look at all the trades.

Hey, while you are negotiating the Edler for ROR trade for us, see if you can get Jamie McGinn throw in. Elliotte Friedman says that he is available.

Outside of randoms like Barker, Weber, etc I've noticed the trend.

1) The player has a strong corsi rating
2) The player suffers from "bad luck", meaning their coming off of a season(s) in which their team had a lower shooting percentage and also had had a low save percentage when the player was on the ice.

He'll find some steals this way for sure but he'll also find guys that just aren't suffering from bad luck, but aren't very efficient players, they'll always have good corsi/possession ratings but will never be on an average/above average shooting percentage line, they just lack the creativity/finish. I hope Gillis isn't blind enough to realize the potential downfalls.

As a GM I think it's great to sign/trade-for players that fit these categories as long as they're cheap and you're not counting on them to be anything more than depth, but there's no way I'd acquire a top 6 players that's been suffering from "bad luck" like a David Booth(easier said now, but still).

Just my 2 cents and speculation.

As you and every Canadian should, he was part of the what the Leafs gave up to get the supernova known as Phil Kessel.

He hasn't even got the 1-for-1 deal done yet, Lefty is realizing how hard it is to be Gillis.

I think he should target the Flyers fans after a loss and try and get B.Schenn+.
