He hasn't even got the 1-for-1 deal done yet, Lefty is realizing how hard it is to be Gillis.
I think he should target the Flyers fans after a loss and try and get B.Schenn+. - Nucker101
The Flyers are my second favourite team, I like their makeup right now. Still missing an offensive dman but I like their forward group. Not dealing with them for selfish reasons. |

Fine. I'll get it done then. If that doesn't work, I'll get a deal done before you do and Edler will finally be gone! |

I truly would like to see Evander Kane in a Canucks sweater, I don't care if he's the biggest pr!ck on earth (see Chris Pronger) what I do care about is his power forward mentality and his ability to put the puck in the net.
I also like the fact he KO'd Matt Cooke |

Flyers currently remind me of the 07/08 version, they're on the verge of being a very good young team with a few more pieces. |

They want a proven top 6(2nd liner), plus a 1st, and prospect apparently. I'm not sure any team will pay that, but I bet they're more firm on getting a 2nd liner and could settle for a good prospect and lower pick. Or a "B" type prospect and a first. But I'm just speculating of course.

The value of first rounders in the pool is all over the place if you look at all the trades. - Nucker101
I think the draft in our pool is going to be very interesting, especially depending on the roster sizes next year. There are probably going to be some more interesting players available than most people think. As each manager drafts somebody, that are probably going have to make a rash decision on somebody and release them back into free agency.
Hopefully, we can have it so that there is no waiver wire at the time, and that free agents are immediately available.

Outside of randoms like Barker, Weber, etc I've noticed the trend.
1) The player has a strong corsi rating
2) The player suffers from "bad luck", meaning their coming off of a season(s) in which their team had a lower shooting percentage and also had had a low save percentage when the player was on the ice.
He'll find some steals this way for sure but he'll also find guys that just aren't suffering from bad luck, but aren't very efficient players, they'll always have good corsi/possession ratings but will never be on an average/above average shooting percentage line, they just lack the creativity/finish. I hope Gillis isn't blind enough to realize the potential downfalls.
As a GM I think it's great to sign/trade-for players that fit these categories as long as they're cheap and you're not counting on them to be anything more than depth, but there's no way I'd acquire a top 6 players that's been suffering from "bad luck" like a David Booth(easier said now, but still).
Just my 2 cents and speculation. - Nucker101
Good analysis. I think it's clear that advanced stats (not all of them but a few of them) heavily influence management's decision-making in assessing prospective talent. As you say, it's fine to acquire depth players in this fashion but I get the impression MG is constantly hoping that a few of these will end up filling this team's chronic needs.
I like Santorelli, Richardson, and Stanton but on any contending team they'd top out as 3rd line/2nd pairing players and we're lacking top end scoring most of all. |

This can vary widely though. It can mean Burrows+Guance+1st or Kesler+Shinkaruk+1st. I don't think we can afford him even if Gillis channeled his inner Holmgren. |

I'm wary of trading a 1st round pick. No matter how small the chance is if we miss the playoffs it goes in the bingo basket. |

2014 is supposed to be a weak draft. Conversely 2015 is meant to be very strong. All depends on what's coming back of course. |

Can't really believe this is the best offer they'll get for Wheeler, but stranger trades have happened. They'd have to really be sold on the rebuild route and the longer term potential of those guys. If I'm WPG I don't see the introduction of those 3 and the loss of Wheeler improving that team at all. - AlexF
Edler, Hansen, Booth and 1st for Wheeler and Ladd
Makes the line up extremely versitile. Anyone of Burrows/Kassian/Kesler/ladd to ride with the twins. Burr can play on any line

Anybody see that on TSN, where the guy bet $100 on Auburn to win the BCS championship in 2014. Made the bet Jan 30th 2013. Odds 500/1. Dude would have won $50, 000 |

This is get crazy. Another 8" of snow last night. Over 21/2 feet of snow in under 3 days. Couple that with 60km winds. Means every road for 4 county's is closed |

Of all the names being thrown around making the Canadian Olympic team; I sure hope St. Louis and Mike Smith aren't on it. Pretty much anybody else I'm okay with. |

He's old as (frank) and I just think it's time to give the next generation of player a chance. Mark my words, if St. Louis makes the team the is going to be a young player left off that totally deserves to be there. |

Raining out here. Hopefully that means snow on the mountains, people are losing their sh!t out here over the lack of snow.
The losing streak will continue tonight, unfortunately. |

Yeah, I'm not gonna lose my mind if St. Louis is named to the team, I just think it's kinda like the Crosby/Kunitz chemistry thing. |
