So would it not be good to have him excel while playing with Crosby at Sochi? Are we running a dog show or trying to win Gold?

If anyone thinks assembling the darlings of the NHL will get you Gold just remember:

Torino 2006.

- Grinder6

Torino went with all the old guard, and not the players who were playing the best at the time. They in no way assembled "the darlings of the NHL" in Torino. They had guys like Adam Foote, a shadow of his former self, and Todd Bertuzzi, into his second crap season. They also ignored the international ice factor, and took some pretty slow skaters.

He will be the only Sharks player on Team Canada.
Unless bracken kearns makes it. 3 goals in past 4 games. Pens fans say take the hot players like Kunitz, no Canadian is hotter than Kearns.

- Scooby_Doo

I forgot about kearns!!
as the say the Olympics are this year. so we need whoevers hot now!!

boyd Gordon has 2 goals in 2 games..?

Guys pipe down with the Kunitz talk. We already have one poopshow of a thread, we don't need two.

Don't mind Matts team. Opinions are gonna very on most skaters but i think Luongo if healthy will clearly start as the #1. I really don't think there's my h of a debate. Whether he loses it at the tourny is another story

I think he's the very best player on his own team. and the best two way player of that group as well.

I suppose an argument can be made for joe, but you've gotta be joking if you think marleau brings more to the table than couture at this point. and I like marleau alot.

there's more to the nhl than just points and offence. otherwise hall would probably be a lock.

id bet couture has the inside track on either of those two. even with joe leading assists

Couture is a good player, but I think overrated. It's one of the reasons he doesn't make my team. That and I hate his teeth.

He's so overrated. I'd take Marleau, Hall, Thornton on the wing, Neal, Kunitz, Eric Staal, etc. miles before him.

He's managed to ride a hot start into people overlooking 2 average months from him.

And he dives like a (frank)ing Brit.

I can't argue with the teeth comment much!! he aint pretty

Canada should be wanting to show some pride in the guys we send over there.

I think that's one of edmontons problems. we are an effin ugly team

I was quite amused at some of the excuses they came up with.

My favorite might have mean the guy who said if Kunitz and Crosby have a huge night in Vancouver on Tuesday night would u agree they both clearly belong on the team?

Ummm......

So if they both have a awful night does that mean neither belong on the team

Or the guy who says that kunitzs number barely dip when he plays on the 2nd line............with Malkin

It's damn true. If anything, it's a great argument to BRING Hall. 2006 left guys like Sidney Crosby who went on to finish 6th in league scoring, Eric Staal who finished 7th, because they thought they were too fresh..... Big mistakes.

2002 was on big ice too which people ignore, and they had some slow dudes on that team. Pronger, Foote, Shanahan, Niewendyk, Smyth, Nolan, MacInnis, Blake, Brewer.

But they were still elite players. Elite players are elite players, period. They weren't elite come 2006 anymore though.

Exactly. They just went with the usual suspects. They figured those guys did it once, they could do it again.

They rectified that in 2010. They took Doughty who was still green as all hell. And as far as Hall comparisons, guys like Keith, Seabrook, and Toews were comparatively inexperienced.

So you want to through Kunitz on the first line just because he has chemistry with the best player in the world? I'm pretty sure Crosby can do well with line mates like Stamkos, Tavares, or Neal and Giroux, etc. Not having Crosby along side of Kunitz is not going to hurt his play one bit.

Ahead of Couture? (frank) yeah. I know what diving looks like.

Dudes a scrub. Peope talk about how he's elite offensively. He's 4th on the Sharks in points and like 20th amongst Canadians with 35 points in 43 games.

I'll take a better shooter like Marleau for that spot.

Piss off. Thornton is just an awful skater, no chance he plays the wing. Plus dude can't score. I take Colture over him on wing any day of the week

scrub??!! wow. he certainly wasn't a scrub last year when he walked all over Vancouver in the playoffs almost single handedly.

either way, I didn't mean to come off hatin on the nucks, that's just when he really opened my eyes. he was effin fantastic.
we'll just have to agree to disagree

and I think he'll be in a checking spot.

im certainly not on the wagon that we need to be so structured and play in only one role. but id feel a lot more comfortable with couture in a 3rd/4th line role than patty.
