Probably.....doesn't mean he deserves it. Neither do, actually. - Jeropotato
Hall is the best natural LW in the NHL. He's only behind Kunitz and Sharp. Sharp moves around the forward lines a bit and has been on an unreal tear lately. Kunitz manages to put his stick on the ice.
But no, we need Couture and Nash to add finishing ability to the roster. |

Kevin Stevens finished 2nd. Rob Brown finished 5th. - golfingsince
Stevens in his prime was a hell of a player.
Anyways, if Kunitz makes it or not I doubt it'll be the downfall of the team should they fail.

Giordano sucks. I'd rather take Phaneuf. |

Hall's explosive speed would be an asset... Imagine a line of Hall-Crosby-Duchene
The speed on that big ice....

Especially where you have them on the roster. Good extras, but that's it. |

Or you roll 4 offensive lines and have the puck the entire time and let the other team worry about stopping you. - DTF69
Then they'll need Thornton for sure, plus a little grit for the corners...
That's a lot of eggs in one basket... The other countries will have an offensive threat or 2 themselves. |

And Canada can have 14.
But apparently its better to have guys fill "roles". It has worked so well at the WJC's and WHC's lately. |

J Bo is hardly riding anyone's coattails in St Louis. There have been several games where he has been the Blues best player. Also you cant underestimate the importance of chemistry especially when it comes to defense partners. The fact that Canada could have two pairs with really good pre-established chemistry is a big reason why I give them a leg up in the tournament. |

Absurd. But Stevey Y thinks for some reason he's "performed every where I've brought him" or something. Except in the playoffs, except in Torino and except in Vancouver.
Heck, he was so good in Vancouver he played his way off Crosby's line and onto the 4th line. But he had ONE GOAL all tournament against Russia so "ah man oh geez that Wick Nash is so good!" - DTF69
Nash had 2 goals and 3 assists in 7 games in 2010. Not saying he should be there but considering the top scorers for Canada had 7 pts I think you're being hateful. |

I can think of three players ahead of Hall. And keep in my I'm a die hard Oiler fan.
Kunitz
Benn
Seguin - nanook82
There is an argument for Kunitz but only because they are play different games. It is comparing apples and oranges. Depends on what Yzerman wants. Does he want someone who can hit in the top 6 in Kunitz or does he want someone that has speed and can provide offense while making more use of the more open ice surface. As for Benn, it is tough to tell what he brings. It is easy to say he is better because he is on a better team but I can't find one tangible skill that Hall doesn't surpass him on. As for Tyler, there is no chance another center that is slower and less gifted offensively is better than Hall.
That was just silly to mention.
Also, correct me if I am wrong but I believe Hall has more international experience. He has proven what he can do. More shots per ice time with no PP time in the worlds last year than Stamkos, Giroux, Staal, Duchene and many of these other "locks." He creates offense by himself. He might not be top 12 but he is a decent alternate for the reason given in the blog. |

Performed his way onto the 4th line and was benched in the gold medal game. |

Kunitz without Crosby is as good as _____???
Benn and Seguin would be fine choices too. - Matt_Henderson
Kunitz can play with Sid or Getz/Perry. He's played his way on, just like St.Louis.
Seabrook is too slow for this big ice---prefer Bouw.
Prefer Benn to Giroux---bigger, faster and will be good flying down the wing.
If adding Jumbo, gotta take Marleau---can still fly and score, plus tons of playing together.
Hall has potential. would be nervous taking him 'cause he not good on D. He should be there in '18 |

He played in all 4 periods of the gold medal game. He also had more minutes than Iginla, Thornton, Perry, Richards, Heatley, Bergeron. Played 1:20 less than Sid. If you don't like him that's one thing but no need to make it up as you go. |

I'll try to keep it short. I believe Hall is only a one way player and a defensive liability. People can argue with that but when you're selecting the best players in the country to go up against the other best players in the world, you need to be a 200 ft player which Hall isn't. Much the same argument people have with Subban. That's just my two cents and thank-god I'm not Steve because we'll be dissecting this team for months. |
