Guess you can't be happy when your team turns a corner anymore, no matter how small. - funmaster18
I'm enjoying watching the games much more. But I'm not going to be a blind bandwaggon fan either. I still see the flaws on this team. Its a double edged sword. While they play good, i enjoy watching them, but I also know while they are playing good they arent going to make any moves to improve the team's future. If they were losing, you can bet they would be looking to make the moves to improve the teams problems. Its really maddening. |

Short term future or long term future? I don't know what big moves you want them to make. The Preds aren't trading Weber or Jones for Read, Simmonds, Laughton and Gus. |

What happens when the top line becomes ineffective with Vinny? - PhillySportsGuy
You mean if. There is no guarantee of that. I think if anything, the way Giroux and Voracek are playing, they help VLC get his game back. Especially after the Olympic break.

Why is it that Simmonds is consider hot?
Simmer put up 28 goals in 2011-12
Last year he was on pace for 29.
This season? 28.
Thats about as consistent a player as you can get. - jak521
Simmonds gets hot and cold inside the season. Much like Briere did. Or dont you watch. |

I think he needs to realize that he will never be anything more than a grinder/4th line tough guy.

They need someone that can be a number 1 puck moving defenseman for the next 5-10 years. At minimum 5 years until we see what we have with Ghost, Alt, Konin, and Morin. At most 10 if we get someone younger.
And we need a sniper. |

Nah.. stopped watching, glad you picked up on that one chief.
All players go through more or less productive patches. Even Giroux (I think.. ya know.. I havent been watching).
The point is, whenever a player is more productive people climb out of their dark dank holes and preach to anyone that wants to read how that player should be traded while they are still "hot".
Now, If you are correct, and Simmonds gets real hot and real cold, and you.. a poster on HBuzz can see this.. why would ANY GM in their right mind be willing to trade for the guy (and give up huge assets) while he is hot. Dont they know he is gonna get cold again?
Or maybe- again I dont know, I stopped watching- Simmonds will forever be red hot and land us a combo of Pietrangleo and Oshie?! |

Outside of the blackhawks every team has flaws. The flyers aren't as bad as you think. |

They don't need a sniper. It would be a luxury. They are scoring 3.3 goals per game over the last 30 games. That would rank 4th in the NHL.
You can't get a number 1 puck moving defenseman without gutting the roster. It's better to just play through this and hope some of the young guys can come up and deliver. |

No one proclaimed a SC contender. There is nothing wrong with enjoying their success and turnaround while balancing their true expectations and needs. I believe holmgren always looks to improve the team whether they are winning or losing. Winning games and playing better is not a bad thing, it shows progress. |

The thing that has given me the most excitement is they're getting secondary and tertiary scoring.
That and the amount of poise they have had over the past month |

I think the couple years that the flyers were set back by with the choice of getting younger is starting to pay off. The Schenns and couturiers of the team are inching closer to where we need them to be. It's taking time, but we all knew it would. |
