JBo belongs without a doubt. He isn't the first player to look just above average on bad teams, but great on a good one. The idea any scrub looks good with Petro is ignorant, Blues tried a half dozen, non-looked like JBo does. Including Olympian Shattenkirk.

Oh, and Seabrook is a right hander. Might as well be an entire different position from JBo, with the team taking equal numbers on both sides.

Yes, Seabrook is a RH, Gio LH... which is why I said it depends on the way they shoot.

[qwawuote=BetterCallSaul]Sorry, but I don't think Giordano makes this team over Boyle. Seabrook is my guess for a RHD, too.
Maybe just me, but I don't think that Gio even makes a Canadian second team...

Then you haven't watched enough Gio. Not kidding. Flames have about 8 wins this year without him.

Ok... 4.

don't get me wrong, I love gio and would love him on the leafs... but Girardi,Seabrook, Phaneuf, Letang, Staal, Boyle, Letang all make it over him... then it comes down to what type of d you want to fill out the final spot... with beauchemin, Campbell, bieksa, methot and gio all worthy...

Healthy Staal makes it over all... But Gio has been incredible.

Your blog said nothing about handedness. It did talk about why Seabrook didn't make the squad to play with Keith if JBo did to play with Petro. Because it might as well be a different position, and one Canada is stacked at. They aren't stacked at LHD like they are at RHD. So they chemistry into account.

Someone is butthurt that J-Bo looked like an average Dman in CGY. He as looked anything but average in STL. Bouwmeester deserves to be there. PK on the other hand... too much risk, too little reward.

Giordano is your next fill in and you're complaining that Jbow doesn't deserve a spot? Are you located in Colorado or Calgary cause you're either high or a homer.

Gio was personally called by Yzerman and told he was close but no quite there. He was also told to keep playing hard and ensure he watches his drug and supplement intake, no sudafed.

Gio can skate better than Seabrook, better defensively than Letang and if you think they would put Phaneuf on this team you are sniffing glue

Heh. I liked this rant. I have the same confusion on the Rick Nash selection.

Giordano.

Nash has been terrible for 2 years.

Nash had 21 and 21 in 44 last year......what's with all the hate?

Your opinion is a little different then Stevie y I guess ...when a guy is told he is one of the replacements then he is close and definitely on the second team

I thought J Bo was great in Calgary, and I think he is doing the same things in St.Louis that he did here......only difference is St. Louis is a FAR better team than Calgary ever was at any point while J Bo was here. Not even close. For some reason he just became the whipping boy for Flames fans.

He had decent stats, in the regular season, but certainly wasn't the impact player they were expecting and was invisible at best in the playoffs.

He was what he he is. A solid performer in all aspects, not a difference-maker. He's above average for sure, but his lack of intensity is a HUGE question mark for me.

I like Gio and would love him on the buds, but he's not even close to Olympic standard...
- lumlums

I really don't think you have seen much of Gio's play. I wouldn't necessarily put him on this roster (tho I think his intangibles would make it a good call), he is easily Olympic lock on every other team.

Shaune mentioned it earlier. Jbo has always lacked intensity and he wore an "A" on a Flames team that could have used some intensity. He wasn't able to elevate his game from what it was an continues to be today. Not that his game is bad but he sure didn't make anyone better in Calgary nor did he ever act like he cared. Burke made a case about Bobby Ryan lacking intensity, the same case could easily be made here.

Are you serious? Girardi? Phaneuf? Letang (this year...)? Boyle? Not a (frank)ing change. Only reasonable examples are Staal (not healthy so non-factor), and Seabrook who is a right handed shot.

I think the opinion of many back east us that if you aren't a big name guy out west then you don't belong ... I don't know how many times I've seen hate for hamhuis or pickles being on the team and a guy like Gio being close ... I still remember the hate for doughty being named in 2010 ... Yet he replaced everyone's choice this year as a replacement seabrook quite early in that tourney

As a lifelong diehard Blues fan I can assure you Jay Bo is not riding Petro's coat tails, quite the opposite. Since the trade last year Petro's game has risen big time!!

On a side note did anyone hear the eulogy that Dallas Eakins gave for Taylor hall not making this team ....he's treating him like he's Marty not making it
