I have yet to see a single person in any EE threads say that we have a good roster. Everyone knows the roster sucks. The question is whether or not we have the right coach to develop our young players so that we don't suck forever. Therrien's INCREDIBLE track record of player development suggests that God himself could not do a better job. - muffin_man
Therrien's incredible record at doing what ? being an egotistical a***hole |

For those who really are adamant about defending MT and the way he proceeds with things have you asked yourself how he managed to get fired from a Pens team stacked with young superstars?
some claim you can't just blame the coach and fire him and hire another one and repeat, it will just be the same
and yet the Penguins won the cup the following year (edit 4 months later)
it makes you wonder what exactly was the problem, it does appear that a similar problem is arising again, so are the Habs not supposed to learn from the Penguins and maybe understand that Michel Therrien has not changed his approach from the time he got fired from Pitts? |

I hope Marc bergevin reads this article and stands behind PK like he should. So far this year after winning the Norris trophy as best dman in the NHL he has been treated like a doormat by MT. Therrien for some reason feels the need to try and chop Subbans confidence. It started with ice time and waiting until almost Xmas to endorse him for team Canada. Now we have therrien in his best example of the season benching him for a dumb penalty. If you didn't see the game in Dallas you probably saw the highlights of what PK can do. He's the canadiens version of Crosby and next to price is the only reason they are where they are in the standings. The favouritism and lack of player management by therrien is very frustrating. Some guys get to work through a slump like Desharnais and it's worked out so far. Then we move on to galchenyuk getting benched in games reduced ice time and is barely given PP time. All of that in favour of Rene Bourque a man with 6 goals and 1 yes 1 assist playing on the PP. It absolutely blows my mind watching this mess lately. If Therrien does get fired I hope for the teams sake the hire the best coach available and if he can't speak a word of French make sure you hire a translator with him. Habs fans everywhere deserve the chance to watch a team that can contend for the cup not this ego maniac drive his best players out of the city. |

Therrien keeps benching the Habs players who create the most offense on the team and fans who defend him wonder why the well is dry for goals
is it any shock that these guys are too afraid to play their game anymore |

I'm just glad you don't have to express yourself in extremes.
Isn't it possible that Therrien screwed up last night and has coached this team well? Does it have to be one or the other? |

Therrien is 54-29-10. I'd say he's had a couple of good nights. |

Look at the habs roster. I think they've been pretty good considering. Horrible to watch, but they generally win.
Bergevin inherited a mess, it's gonna take time. |

i'm not so sure thats the problem he also went 47-24 and 47-27 with the pens and finally in the 3rd year where they went 47-28 they decided to fire him BEFORE the important part of the season started..... |

no i dont believe that, i believe either Bergevin has to make a move or Michel Therrien has to do something other than bench players and shuffle the lines
and if that means a new coach with a new approach than so be it, doesnt mean it makes the Habs a contender it simply means they get a coach who adapts better/quicker |

Therrien will eventually be fired. I wouldn't bet he makes it past the end of next season, but I wouldn't be surprised if he does. All thing considered you really think Therrien should be fired now? As if he's going to damage something? Is there a player on the team who's worse now than they were before he started coaching them?
I think he (frank)ed up last night and it might even be the beginning of him losing the room (which is why he'll eventually be fired), but the last thing this team needs right now is a coaching change. |

Bergevin needs to make a trade, but has very little to offer. It's probably why he hasn't made a trade and is building through the draft so far. |

i can agree with that, it is unlikely to be any sort of shotgun firing, he'll be given a chance for a while and right now i'm not sure what that would accomplish for the team, its not completely his fault since Bergevin signed alot of uselessness in the offseason, the kind that can't even be sent down to Hamilton in order for them to bring in fresh blood more often |

People expect this team to perform at a much higher level than they are capable of, unrealistic expectations. This is a very average team that must play a tight system and rely on their goalie and PP to win games.
Habs PP is 4/44 in their last 12 games....and look at their record the last 12 games. |
