it's the middle of season 2 and therrien's message is fading. no one thought he'd last more than 3 full seasons as coach so things are progressing as expected. as far as subban is concerned, yes he brain-cramped last night and it cost the canadiens momentum they might have gained after plekanec's late period goal but to bench him for 10 minutes is ludicrous. but that is just another chip cracking off the therrien veneer.

I don't think Bergevin has given any thought to firing him. I also don't think it works that way. GM decides to fire coach and then decides who the next coach will be. Can you think of one instance when a coach was fired because a different guy suddenly became available?
