i agree on Carlyle not being a great coach and his rep being inflated by Neidermayer and Pronger. that's why i do think it makes sense to fire him. becaue even if nothing changes, you're not losing out on a great coach. name an interim guy and see if he can right the ship. if not, search over the summer. i never thought RC would get fired this year but he's starting to leave Nonis no choice. - DoubleDown
now that rogers owns the team things will be different
they wont like missing out on that playoff revenue |

not what i meant
but honestly... think of the dollars generated by the ads for the post season during leaf games.
like it or not, for whatever reason the leafs have the largest tv audience.. and that translates into higher ad revenue. |

Ya but he's great with young talent like Ryan Hamilton, Greg Scott, Mike Zigomanis, Korbinian Holzer, Simon Gysbers, Marcel Muller and Philippe Dupuis. - AdamFrench
i can't imagine he's impressing other GMs out there to this point. i don't recall a first-time coach this arrogant. couple that with the fact that his team might be the NHL's worst... |

not sure how much they make from ads... the ad revenues belong to the network. they've already paid for their rights. the additional revenues are mainly gate and merchandise/concessions. and yeah it's a lot but 4-5 playoff home games for a team as wealthy as the Leafs? not the biggest deal in the world. |

4-5 playoff games for a team like the leafs probably means in the area of $10M.
may not seem like a lot to a giant like Rogers but I can guarantee you for the (frank)er in charge of the leafs whose annual bonus depends on revenue, it's a poopload. |

missing the point.
more people watch the leafs, making ad time more expensive, i think montreal is a very close second.
you are lets say.. gillette, you are going to pay more for ad space during say, a leafs / detroit series or a habs / bruins series then you would for a nashville / pheonix series or TB / carolina series.
why? viewership. |
