I get that, but this would mean that Bergevin and Therrien believe that this team can make it out of the East. I think this team isn't really there. With the amount of teams that would compete in order to overpay for Markov, (and I think there are many) I think that "pieces that may help you in the future" might be a rather pessimistic view of what trading Markov would really bring back... - kev1586

If Bergevin puts Markov out there and the best a team offers is a first and 2 seconds, then I agree with you guys. Screw it. Play it out and see what can happen this year. - kev1586
It's not just about how far you can go. There are many factors such as the youth gaining valuable experience, the players feeling the organization is committed to them, even the bottom line.
How would you feel if you played for a team that was top 4 in the conference and they started moving key pieces for futures? |

Crawford was sick. Price too, but the habs defense played a hell of a game. |

Picked up a friend at the airport yesterday. He asked me how were the Habs this week. I said same old, losing a game they should have won, and winning vs. a team everybody was sure would stomp them.
Speaking of which, I don't think I ever saw that much people at the airport, especially at the arrivals. Seems like the week after the holidays is a popular time for travels. |

They actually played 60 full minutes. Maybe 59+, but still impressive. Imagine if you will, a scenario where you are handcuffed to a bomb, and the only way your life will be spared, is if Tomas Plekanec scores on a breakaway. |

This is what I expected. And like I said before, I think it's too bad. Don't you think Colorado, Anaheim, San Jose and Minnesota might all be willing to pay a hefty price for a D like Markov? That's not even considering Washington, Tampa and Detroit in the East. And it would go a long way to completing his plan... |

Edmonton wouldn't be a team looking to acquire Markov. |

the conservative approach is fine for right now but he will at some point have to be aggressive and put his stamp on this team. this is a guy who came from Chicago, and even with all of those high picks, they still had to add guys like Hossa, Sharp and Oduya from outside. |

It was just an hyperbole.
Meaning, "a top 5 pick or a bottom five pick?". |

of course not. he's not an 18-year-old forward. |
