I just realized NYI's Andy MacDonald is UFA coming up. He's 27, currently has 22 pts in 45 games and plays shutdown minutes.

NYI apparently hasn't been able to re-sign him, there's no indication the two parties are close, or even negotiating. This could be the elusive top pairing D-man, no? I could see NYI having interest in Reimer plus a D prospect or two....

Trade Gunnarsson and Kulemin for picks/prospects and they could swing 5mil under next year's cap. Unless Rielly suddenly blossoms into a 2-way stud next year, you're going to have to shell out the big bucks for a player in that role.

We should stop treating shootout wins and losses as successes (or failures) of the teams involved. The results are incredibly random.
