First of all, # of players going to the Olympics is a terrible metric to use. The Leafs have boasted a large number of Oympians in past years that nobody would mistake for "elite talent".

Tellqvist has an Olympic gold, for crap sakes.

Secondly, while they do have a ton of players I'd call very good, they have no Crosbys, no Ovechkins, no Lidstroms, etc. They have very few guys who would fall into the top 30-40 in the league (maybe none at all). They have players of above average talent who have ALL ought into a system.

Anyone lucky enough to get coached by Hitchcock right now instantly looks 10x better than before.

McCabe, Kaberle, Komisarek, Grabovski, Kulemin, Tellqvist, Kessel, JVR, Sundin, Kubina, Aki Berg (Silver (frank)ing medalist!)...

Just a few names from the Leafs to make the Olympics since the first lock-out. Man, how did we ever fail to make the playoffs all that time? So many elite talents!
