Holland getting demoted was apparently caused by a rift between Nonis and Carlyle.
Gardiner getting benched in favor of Fraser as your defense gets chewed up has got to sting, too.

Let me say I'm not a huge Carlyle fan. Nonis demoted holland cause he wasn't getting quality minutes, average 6.
Defensively gardiner is horrible, it could have been worse with him out there. |

Seguin was drafted the year after, but Phaneuf had only played half a season. As I recall, the team played at a 90+ point pace after those blockbusters were made.
So, 1 lottery pick. But one playoff appearance, as well. |

They kicked him out of Anaheim to great effect. Didn't matter that he had a ring there.
I wish the players would buy into what he's selling, but they're not. Or, maybe they just can't. Gardiner will never play like Fraser, nor should he be expected to.
He's got to find a method to get the most of what he's got. That's 100% on the coach. |
