So... Do we still believe this team can go all the way this year because of a hot streak?
Stay the course. Let this crew do what they can, and evaluate around the draft. That is the time to make moves.

I'd say it's more than just a hot streak. They've been playing some very solid hockey over the last couple of months.
today notwithstanding, of course.

The 2014 Free Agent list is nothing to write about this year. If we want to add scoring and D its going to have to be done through trades. With the exception of diaz, girardi, and niskanan the FA defense class is really old and expensive. i would love to see ryan callahan in orange & black, hes def a heart on sleeve, team type of player, but @ 4 mill ouch thats a bit steep. |

Except it's not really a streak anymore.
Over the last 35 games they are 20-11-4 if my quick look was right.
Do I think they are one of the top teams in the league, nope.
Do I think they can compete with any team in the league over the course of a series, yup.

Better in the long run that they lose a game like this rather than come back late and win. D zone play was awful and I wouldn't want any of them to be thinking "hey we won, we couldn't have played so badly"
I expect them to be fired up and play much better tomorrow night in MSG. |

Hey guys. I know I've asked this before on here but I can't remember what you guys said. I'm going to the game Saturday and I want to stay at the hotel that the isles stay at. Do you guys know which hotel that is? |

Clearly you're not familiar with Plind's schtick.
You see if the team loses, he brings up stuff that happened ages ago and doesn't really have anything to do with the situation at hand while dripping in sarcasm and other stuff i wont get into. Hence the 04 ECF that they lost and countless trades that didn't turn out how we would've liked.
Get with it newb. |

As much as i like mase id still wait until offseason. That way you get a full year evaluation and have options open in case somebody else is available. Personally i'd like him to stay but its nice to have it open in case a top flight goalie becomes available. Crazy things happen , ya never know. - EastBeast18
Not sure how much more you can want from a goalie that he hasn't done this year. |

that was that brutal quarterfinal series when they just beat the crap out of eachother for 6 games (flyers win series 4-2) but flyers have zero left in the tank for florida. van biesbrouck played out of his gourd in that series as well, but the flyers were banged up after playing tb |

I want to see a full consistant season from him until he's extended for several years. Make sure its not a fluke thats all. I hope they do sign him myself, the players love him and the FA goalies this year are junk. |

Yeah I didnt look it up and forgot the details of 2004. I think I combined the win in the 1995 series vs the lightning with 2004 series. Flyers history always gets jumbled in my brain. Oh well. |

If they could sign both goalies for good numbers should Homer do it? I think Mason has shown that he can be a good #1 goalie and I think Emery has done a good job as a back up. - LJF
Khudobin is twice as good for half the money. Let Emery move on and get a cheaper backup next year. Maybe Heeter can do it. |

I'm not sure about that... for the season, I can count the number of solid 60-minute efforts on one hand. If not for some seriously stellar goaltending, improbable 3rd-period comebacks, and a couple of rare SO wins, this team would likely be much further down in the standings. |

Well, yeah. I do.
One loss doesn't erase the fact that since starting 1-7 -- the acknowledged period of time it took for Craig Berube's system to take root after Laviolette was booted -- they've gone 23-11-4.
They're a flawed team, have some weaknesses. Clearly, Tampa is giving them fits this season, from how they play. Some others, as well.
But that's what trades are for. Waiting and waiting doesn't guarantee you anything. You have to strengthen what you have if you believe in what you're doing.
23-11-4 isn't a hot streak. That's simply not.
Almost every team that has won the Stanley Cup has given up something of value in order to get there, in almost a direct correlation to when they've won it, whether it be a huge contract in free agency or assets in trade.
The Flyers are good enough to think about doing this. They really are. Losing today doesn't change that. |

I thought before the season started they'd finished 4th in the Metro and miss the playoffs and I'll stick with that. |

No but game 6 was an amazing come from behind win. I was at that game. Not sure if my voice has recoverd quite yet. And, then, well, we went back to TB and, well back to you parallel universe. |
