For the record, I misunderstood it as Gagner>Myers
Right now, there are about 20ish potential first overall picks out there. |

At this point . I would take Myers over a a first overall . Since Ted Nolan came in Myers has really rounded the corner . I really do not want to develop another number 1 defense man . Myers is well on his way now . You should watch his play lately on offense and defense. |

My only beef with Grigo's situation is that the Sabres keep insisting playing time in the NHL has to be "earned", and #25 has not earned the right to play yet.
What the (frank) have Leino, Staffoed, Ott, Ennis, and almost anyone else "earned" lately? These chumps make millions to not score goals while one of our talented prospects is getting badly jerked around. NOBODY on our team has earned a clear spot on this roster except Miller and Enroth.
When our leading goal scorer has 8 goals, there should darn well be a spot for a young center with talent. |

I'm sorry but there is just no question Ted Nolan should not be coaching this team in the middle of a rebuild. We are wasting roster spots on 2 waiver claims, and mid twenties Linus Omark instead of Grigo. Are you kidding me? Just continuing to ruin the kid. I agree that he is not ready for the NHL but he is to good for the Q. It would have been wise to let him get the experience here and see if he improves in this wasted season, then you could throw him in the 'A next year when eligible. |

They did earn it at one point in their career. Grigorenko has never earned it . It should not just be given to him or he will never develop a work ethic or a compete level.

At least you can see Mark out there hustling and creating some chances, Grigerenko fells entitled like most kids in the world these days. They feel they should have everything done and given to them. His attitude on not going back to junior could have just closed the door on a NHL career.

Mantha's value right now is at an all time high, Grigorenko is at an all time low. Nyquists value is much higher than Adams as well. You act like points in junior and minor leagues are all that decides a players value. - rmdevil313
I don't disagree with any of this... but, my point is that if you're Detroit you must give Buffalo something of value (and significant at that) to be the team that walks away from the deadline with Ryan Miller. Nyquist has played well in the NHL (so that is the "why" for the Sabres to want him)... he's a piece the Wings can part with because he isn't taking the world by fire (even though he's playing well) and they have solid depth throughout their organization. You could debate that Nyquist even took a little longer to break into the NHL than most would have hoped. So that is the point on Nyquist. Mantha's value is at it's highest... but stats in Juniors don't decide his value? So, you're sort of talking out of both sides of your mouth because that is exactly what everyone loves about Mantha. He's not the greatest skater and isn't the best in his own end... so his offensive production (mostly due for his nose for the net and putting himself in the right place at the right time). Well, that sounds an awful lot like the scouting report on Grigorenko? He put up mad stats in the same league, but his two-way game is lacking along with his skating. Again, I highly doubt this trade ever happens... I get that, but I don't believe it won't be because Mantha is too valuable or that Nyquist is irreplaceable for the Red Wings. If they acquired Miller and went deep into the playoffs and kept Miller beyond this season, they would never look back on losing any of these guys. |

This is where Teddy Nolan hurts his own cause. I love the guy (and I get that he has Lafontaine's support here)... but this is an early impression for Terry Murray during his first week on the job. Murray, I'm sure, has been strongly encouraged to keep Nolan incorporated into things. That being said, Nolan showing no flexibility in the style of player in his lineup is really going to cause complications for Terry Murray. If I'm Murray, as much as the fans love Nolan... I'd wait out the rest of this season to make a decision on Nolan going forward. He can't have both... his style players and better players. There are very few players in the league who compete in the manner than Nolan wants AND have a high skill level. They're out there, but the teams with those players aren't going to give them away to us just because Nolan wants them. Now, Nolan's public comments and digging his feet into the sand is painting Terry Murray into a corner... he either backs his coach and alienates Grigorenko and in the process trades him from a point of weakness and low value OR he overrules his coach which isn't a great way to start their relationship together. Welcome to a dysfunctional organization, Mr. Murray. |

What's the problem? That was alot of emoticons..
Cool?
So is it grigorenkos plummeted stock from typical russian nonsense and work ethic that ur overvaluing?
Or
Myers decent half season value after and abysmal 2 years with his stock plummeting?
All with a contract that is a huge gamble. In fact; one that most gm's probably wouldnt have given much value for as of a few months ago.
This is what i mean by taking off the homer glasses.
It's totally fine if you value potential over other attributes. Or even if u like home team players best.
But on the open market, there is no measuring stick that says grigorenko is worth more than a proven nhl'er. Even one that's struggling after having a great season.
Same goes with tyler myers versus a First/second overall.
 - hugefemale dog77
Myers, Ott (value: 1st rounder or a second and a prospect at the deadline), Grigorenko (why trade him right now???)
for Gagner (overpaid, overrated 2nd liner who fills zero needs on the Sabres) and a 1st rounder that MAY be 1st overall and MAYBE a conditional 3rd if Ott re-signs.
No, you're right, the Sabres fan is being a homer.
and before you female dog, Gaustad got a 1st. Ott is better. |

I think ive said this to you before, but ur unabashed oiler hate makes it tough to tske any oiler comments u make with anything more than a grain of salt.
Why focus on ott so much when he was clearly questioned and unsure as part of the deal from the first post? And besides, since when does a player get addrd into a deal as an extra piece and get exactly what he would as if he were bein dealt straight up?
Meh. Take him out. Bare bones of grigs and myers is still fair value. Id say abit less. But not really that important.
And Strange how u commented on the possible first more than once like somehow it strengthens ur point. Who cares if its a 3rd? Point was its gonna be an extremely high pick for sure and very high value. Do i need to mention the drouins, duchenes, huberdeaus etc.?
And who cares if u dont think they should deal grigs? Thats not part of the equation
Too many semantics in ur retort. Not much substance. |

litterally stopped reading here. wtf are you talking about? I actually like the oilers and hate their management group for doing what they have done to them since the cup run. Doesn't change the fact that Oiler fans seem to think Gagner is in the same class as the big 4 and should be untouchable unless the return is HUGE. He's done/shown nothing to warrant that. |

Defense men need to be developed . We have put the time and effort in with Myers . He has rounded the corner . Really do not care if you think we are over valuing him . You are under valuing him at the same time. You should watch some games . Besides Miller , He has been our best player . That contract won't be that bad after all. - Maximum Signal
