Flyers really need some fast-twitch players.
Seems like we're ALWAYS a second behind in reacting to the puck, especially in our own zone. - FlyerGuy
Just can't play the puck out of their own zone. Im surprised the Flyers have the record they have now due to the lack of effectiveness coming out of their own zone.
Flyers need puck movers, bad. How I can't wait for Hagg, Ghost, Alt, Morin, and Vasiliev arrive. Going to be a long while, but it'll be worth it. |

right on the edge, imo ...
he'd probably get a good return, and we have Laughton, so I'd be okay if it was a solid deal for us. - FlyerGuy
yeah i still think he has some really good value to him. in my opinion someone in the forward ranks that it would hurt to lose would have to go to bring in a good defender. |

How bad did they look in the first 2? I tuned in with a minute left int he 2nd and the club has looked good in the 3rd. - jstross
first 5 minutes was a seminar in bad defensive play, the next 55 was pretty even, despite the 5 straight ranger power plays, but the flyers couldn't get a goal though they had myriad chances |

For me I would move Couturier before I move any of those other 3 forwards. - opeth_pa
Dumb... every one is so focused on his offensive production, but when it comes to the defensive side, Coots is unreal, especially when it comes to the PP.

he was solely responsible for the 4th goal. 2 feet from the line and can't clear it?? imagine 3-1 with 15 to play??? maybe a different game. probably not, but that was a bad goal to surrender |

yeah. hes not there all of the way by any means. still good potential and would have good value in a potential trade. it would have to be him, brayden schenn, or simmonds going the other way to get that yandle type should you guys choose to go that route. a case can be made for both directions for sure |

has couturier fallen out of that realm for a lot of you guys? - stayinthefnnet
No. He's 21 (frank)ing years old. Everyone knows what he can do when he's on top of his game...i.e. shut down some of the best players in the world.
Flyers are where they are because they get impatient with their young guys and trade them away to cover for their glaring weaknesses from the draft (defense and goalies). Doing the same thing isn't going to get them anywhere, and would probably set them back like the last few years have. |

yeah that is an argument that has a lot of merit. realistically, even should those guys pan out they will largely be 3 to 4 years away from contributing. if you guys think you are on the cusp of being one of the better teams in the conference, that is a long time to wait. giroux will be pushing 30 then. not ancient by any means, but these are prime years of your star's career to just say well lets wait. at the same time, veteran bandaids arent the answer |

this is why we can't wait until we're skidding down the ramp to make a move. best thing holmgren could do would be to make a move when they are in a playoff position and playing well...if those two things ever come together again this season |

Thanks. I thought the Flyers looked pretty good in the third, but Lundqist played great. Should be able to regroup the next 4 games Buffalo, Nashville, NYI, NYI. Rangers have Tampa, Detroit, Ottawa, Washington.

i know all of that. like i said, i still think he has a ton of value. realistically though to bring in outside help, someone would have to go. i personally dont think i would have it be couturier for the reasons listed, but im sure other people have their own rankings of preference and whatnot |

so you wouldnt be trying to bring in a defender from outside the organization? like i said, i can see the merits from both sides of the fence. but this side does require some patience and the likely concession of at least a few years |

That's on the GM. We are where we are because of a terrible track record drafting D and goalies. Lupul and 1st rounders for Pronger...that was great until his career was ended. JVR for Luke Schenn.
I have no faith in the front office's ability to objectively look at their own weaknesses and be patient instead of overreact. JVR for Schenn is a great example. Forwards, they are great with, but as you can see, even the forwards today leave some to be desired. |

JvR for Schenn right now looks like a clear win for the Leafs ... but lets see how it looks in another year or two. A young D man can take a long time to come into his own, and JvR certainly wasn't going to get the ice time here that he's getting in TO. |

Are you (frank)ing idiots for real? Carrcillo tried to fight Simmonds and the little female dog skated to the bench. He took his visor off between periods for that reason. You people are (frank)ing delusional.
And Shen messed him up? Come on morons. Shen was trying to hug and push Carrillo because he knows he can't throw with him.
Ps. That was the ultimate female dog move by hartnell at the end. Hiding behind his teammates. What a (frank)ing wussy. - mjh609
