So... Do we still believe this team realistically goes all the way?

Yep, two bad games in a row erases the 10 wins in 13 games that preceded it. They lost two games, played poorly and obviously they suck.
It's a joke how quickly people jump off the bridge. No sense trying to get better...we'll only lose. Why bother having an interest in the team at all?
My kids have more patience and understanding.
Whoops the Flyers lost, I'll post today...been awhile because I disappeared when they were winning. |

Still need a number 1 D man and another skill winger in the top 6. Oh, and the team needs to focus on playing D... still.
So to answer your question, nope. |

Nope, just tired of people who vanish when the team does well and only show up to take a poop on them when they lose.
Nobody said they were perfect, just that they shouldn't ignore immediate needs and wait until the summer in hopes of filling those needs. The fact is, the entire Eastern conference is filled with teams that have warts and question marks.
Of course, as soon as they have a bad game or two, they obviously aren't any good and they should say screw it and rebuild. It's tiresome. |

Yep. After they beat Montreal, I was happy and then I realized I should be mad, so I took a cold shower and stood outside in the freezing cold, so I could get sick and feel bad...because the Flyers aren't a lock for a Cup, i should be miserable. |

Jsaq, you will have to excuse me for not posting in recent times, and being busy. I also don't really come in cheering "woooo" when they win, and most people don't. Doesn't mean we are not fans.
In general is there more activity on the board during frustrating times? Definitely. Would my own posting follow this trend? Definitely.
I'll add a little bit of my own taste here, before heading out for the evening, and why I think you see a little more negativity here than say when I originally joined in 2008. From me, and in general. The team has been run kind of poopty, and from a franchise that has unlimited cash and is an attractive FA destination people want better. At the end though, we are all fans. We all enjoy when they win, and don't like when they lose.

this is something people really need to take into consideration. obviously boston is made for playoff hockey. the pens should be in the final mix as well, but id be lying if i said the team inspires confidence in the postseason. this year, as much as any in recent memory, really just wreaks of get in and you never know.
you never can properly evaluate a team at its best, nor at its worst. the truth is always somewhere in the middle. are the flyers a team that will consistently win 8 out of 9? i dont think so. but if they play this rangers team over a 7 game series, i sincerely doubt a laugher like this is anything close to resembling the norm. |

It's always that way. Whenever they lose the comment counts are off the charts. Win a game, and it's a ghost town.
You want to be negative, go for it. But don't expect to not get criticized for it. Nobody's happy after a loss. Why the (frank) would you think we want to see people who are supposedly fans pile on to that?
And FWIW, nobody said they were going to win it all. Most have just said they shouldn't ignore chances to make the team better in the short term-as long as it doesn't hurt them in the long run-because the way the east is, it's very possible for another 2010 type run.
And if you want to say this team isn't as good as 2010...maybe not. But at this time that season, the team was 28th in the league, not sitting in a playoff spot. It had just claimed Michael Leighton off recall waivers and was stuck with him as the starting goalie.
Yeah that's right, a team with an AHL goalie, a horrible third defense pair & a bevy of guys underachieving came together to go on a run. If the current team can find a decent puck moving defenseman and consistent play, they could take advantage of a very shaky Eastern Conference.

Exactly. When the team does well, people get giddy and angry. When they lose, they suck and should sell off the pieces to load up on draft picks for the rebuild.
The problem is that it gets annoying to see the negativity with two bad games following a 10-2-1 run. |
