Enough with smyth his body is done he looks like he had arthritis out there. - Oilers42
Whatever he looks like, he's doing quite well against 3rd/4th line competition and is already having a better year than last offensively.
The point being we need depth that pushes our 3rd line down to a 4th line. |

Joensuu is just plain terrible - Reveen
I'd like to send him down just to see if somebody would grab him off waivers and relieve us of his contract for next year. |

Remember when the Oilers were solid on defence, blocked lots of shots, won lots of faceoffs and were hard to play against? I thought our offence was boring then and wished we had some firepower. Funny... - TheTaoOfSemenko
Sad to consider 97-2000 the 'good oil days' . |

Had his head so far up his ass he suffocated? Broke his neck trying to suck his own Richard? Could be a lot of things but those seem the most likely. |

Food for thought. - TheTaoOfSemenko
I don't subscribe to the Lowe hate. Thought he did a good job as GM, but (frank)ed up in his last couple of years trying to remain competitive when the club didn't have the assets. Oh well.
As president, His decision to hire Tambo was questionable, but not his decision to go full rebuild-it had to happen.
I don't see his hiring of Mac T as a bad move, I like what he has with the organization as far as establishing the farm system .
His comment about the two tier fans was stupid.
I doubt replacing him as president has any impact on the teams future what so ever.
The hate to me is a waste of time. |

You guys want a goalie and one to build around for the future. Anton Khudobin I think could be had from Carolina. Ward and Peters are probably available too but Dobby has paid his dues in the AHL where he was a top goalie, two solid years as a back up in Boston and this year looks awesome. But I should forgot there is nobody running this team with half a brain, |

They conviently leave his stellar gm skills out of their decision to harass other team. |

As much as I hate to admit I was wrong, I've gotta say, some of those other fans were right; an improvement to our (a Miller or a Reimer) likely saves this team around 30 goals against. That would leave us 19th in the league in goal differential and with a middling offense. Who knows the effect of still being in a lot of those losing battles might've done to boost the team's offense, too!
I think it's within reason to suggest that this team would be within competitive range right now had it not been for our goaltenders' terrible starts. I guess it's a good thing Dubnyk decided to have his bad year now rather than next year after management had resigned him to a big contract! |

Reading between the Lowe interview, this arcticle (which makes some good points) and Staples' interview with MacT, I'd say that the purview Kevin Lowe is essentially to be the head of professional scouting. MacT identified him as a sounding board on moves he'd like to make, and they've often been somewhat forthcoming that they do decisions by committee.
It strikes me that for the last 6 years the process has been this:
1. Mact/Tambs has an idea
2. They gather the group together and share the idea
3. Kevin Lowe says what he thinks about it
4. They take that very seriously
5. They either carry out the idea or don't depending on how conifdent they are after hearing Lowe's opinion.
It seems to me like he's neither twiddling his thumbs nor is he pulling the strings. |

Really liked what Perron had to say about the team needing to play bigger and not worry about getting injured. Not sure the rest of the team listens to him, but here is a guy bring outside experience in and he should be listened to. |

Going to Philadelphia has been a death sentence for Goaltenders. Finding a starting goalie to build around has been the unicorn the Flyers have been chasing since the days of Bernie Parent. |
