i question buff's will or work ethic. i don't think wpg is going to blow it up that big. - deks1
byfuglien is a stud. if he's on the market EDM should check the price tag |

Even without those two things he puts up a lot of points, plays a ton of minutes, and WPG has control of the puck more when he's out there. I don't think they blow it up either. They just need a decent goalie and better depth players. - Jack-artist

Looks like the Hurricane's are trying to get a bidding war started between Edmonton and Winnipeg. |

for goaltending i'd suggest waiting until the off season to sign a couple free agents. |

I think they should just move out as many as their pending UFAs as possible at the trade deadline instead of letting them walk for nothing at the end of the season. Make larger moves in the summer, if possible. |

no. But you can make smarter deals. Remember when MTL traded young Mcdonagh in a deal for Scott gomez? MTL was better for a short bit in the ,then, present and gave up what could have been a huge piece of the future. Or how about 22YO Coburn for Zhitnik so that they could "win now". That turned out well. Should I mention dealing promising goalie prospect Rask for Raycroft?
There's a big difference between sitting on your ass while your team loses and not forcing trades that could backfire big time - TheNugeIsHuge
There's also a big difference trading for a player in their prime and trading for a player in the downside of their career. The Rask for Raycroft and Gomez for McDonagh trades are 2 of the worst in league history as well and don't have very much merit at all. |

Gomez was 29YO and coming off of a 58P season at the time of his trade. Yandle is 27. |

Gomez had a horrible contract the he never lived up to and McDonagh was considered one of the top D prospects at the time. Nobody thought Montreal made a wise decision. As I said, one of the worst trades in league history. |

like nobody will think EDM would be making a wise decision. Say that's Draisatl, Gagner, and klefbom. Potential future 1st line power winger, 2C, and a potential top 3 Dman prospect for a top pairing guy that would play in EDM for 2.5 seasons? That's overpaying a good amount because "We need to starting winning now" |
|

Honest question oilers fans. Why haven't we seen Hall-RNH-Yakupov on a line together? Is because they all shoot left, right, or is because one is faster than the other's? Im just saying I've never seen them start a game together. |

since you put it that way, make sense why mact wants a player in his elc rather than a player potentially heading to ufa. if that's the case, it's either murphy or gormley from phx. right now looks like murphy is the player to go after involving a gagner trade. |

it's not wise to put all 1st overall picks on one line? |

I don't know how much better Murphy is than Marincin at the moment or in the near future. EDM'd probably have to pay more for gormley, as he'll be quite good, but I don't know if EDM really needs another guy who won't help the team for another few years. |

Good then we can live on what ifs and dwell in the basement for another 3-5 years while we wait on more prospects with your way of thinking. Like I said classic Oiler fan thinking. |

I mean why not try Hall-Rnh-Yakupov perron-gagner-eberle for your first 2nd lines? |

We need a 1st pairing guy. Not a guy that might one day be a 1st pairing guy. |

They want to make a splash they need to go for Shea. Nashville was open to trading him Philly just didn't want to pay for him. |

I can't even remember a trade with that big of value. Maybe the Nash trade. The difference being Yandle isn't top 20 in his position.
Who was even the last top pairing Dman dealt? Burns? for a 28th overall, Setoguchi, and Coyle?
Burns=>=Yandle
Gagner>Setoguchi
top 5+Klefbom>coyle+28th
Phaneuf for 4th liners+Stajan?
You can keep saying "ooh typical oiler fan logic"
A)that includes yourself
B)I know I'm right. You don't trade away huge stocks in the future for a quick fix |

Big Buff over Yandle I'd prefer ,hopefully MacT is workin on gettin one of these guys or a legit top 2 guy. I agree with all who say we should adress goalie situation thru UFA in July.(It won't cost any players and we're already screwed this year anyhow ) |

So how do we get our hands on OEL or Erik Karlsson? At this point, with Melnyk's money concerns, maybe it is possible to pry EK out of Ott. |
