They basically spend the entire year preparing for that moment, so when Homer trades them away, I'm sure there's a lot of angst over it. - Tomahawk
It would make me so mad. Imagine working on a year long project and your boss being like "Oh, we're only going to need part of that project" |

The team I look at is Buffalo, with Christian Ehrhoff.
They are absolutely terrible. He's 31 years old. There is NO WAY that team contends before 2017, at the earliest.
They have to trade him, right? On what Earth do you keep Christian Ehrhoff, when you are as bad as Buffalo and are years away from contending -- you need wingers, you need centers, and if/when you move Ryan Miller, you need a goalie? - AllInForFlyers
They do have a lot of young talent and several early first round picks. Now what those players develop into is another matter. If I were them, I'd try and keep Miller. He's been great this year. They may not be as far as people think. |

Hard for their kids to grow if they don't have players to get them the puck... |

Miller might be tough to move because there's no real goalie market for his true value, but I wouldn't re-sign him -- they are in an absolute rebuild. It'll be at least three years before they even think about the playoffs. |

Ha! It's harder for us to win the Stanley Cup if they won't give him up!
I ask you, which is more important?!?!?!?!?! |

Haha, exactly... imagine those years in the Clarke days when they wouldn't have a pick until the 4th-round or something... Homer was a scout/director of player personnel, so you'd think he would know that wantonly trading away picks probably is detrimental to his personal safety at work, lol. |

Rough weekend? Yes.
End of the world? No.
Remember this team in the past thirteen games was a crazy 10-2-1--if I'm not mistaken. Right?
They were bound to lose two in a row. It happens. |

Sure, but Paul Holmgren elected to take that odious contract on, when the rest of the league wanted nothing to do with it at the time. - Tomahawk
Meszaros had a perfectly reasonable contract till he got injured four times in 12 months. |

They have some decent prospects at goalie, but they have a top 10 guy in the league. They should just re-sign him. Maybe a 4 year deal with a lot of money.
You can't build a team with entirely young players. You need veterans. It may be nice to have a guy who can erase some mistakes.
You also need to keep the fans coming to games. |

Probably...Laughton, the 2014 first, and a mid-level prospect like Nick Cousins. Maybe a second-rounder in 2015. |

I bet it was a punch line amongst scouts.
Blackhawks scout: I'm here to scout Jonathan Toews. I hear he's one heck of a player.
Flyers: I'm here to scout Zac Rinaldo. I hear he's…a player. |

I guess that would depend on whether or not you believe that a blueline consisting of 39-year-old Kimmo, Streit and Ehrhoff would get you any closer to the winning the Cup.
Maybe they could move the puck better, but for those who are wondering if they can get any worse on the D-side of the puck.... they'd have their answer. - Tomahawk
Ha! You just gave up six to Tampa and four to the Rags because you can't move...there's no reason to believe that's going to change if we don't change.
That's the second time Tampa's strafed the Flyers, each time on full rest.

So sestito and carcillo bith scored on us this year. I wonder what the record is in a season for former goons scoring on the flyers in a season or any former goon on their old club. - JoeRussomanno
I hear Riley Cote is thinking about coming out of retirement. They say they have a spot for him on Crosby's line.... |

I agree. You also have to remember how barren the forward group looked at the time of the trade. We had Giroux, but didn't realize he'd be a point per game forward. Jagr hadn't signed yet either. I bet if Couturier were taken, the Flyers would have chosen Hamilton with that pick. - PhillySportsGuy
They had their eye on Siemens. That would have been a disaster.

I, actually, think Ehrhoff would be alright with a guy like Grossmann. Acquiring Ehrhoff would make the Streit move 10 times worse. |

Would you take Ehrhoff and Leino for 2 2nd round picks? |

Depends on who we would have to ditch to fit them under. If you say Mark Streit and Scott Hartnell.... then YESSSS!! |

Ehrhoff is more of a 2-way guy. He leads his team in SH TOI/G.
He would be a decent Kimmo replacement, especially with his low cap hit. |

Whoa -- they'd have to take a contract back, and a medium-to-big one, for us to be able to absorb Leino. |

Adding Erhoff would have minimal impact on Streit, he's far more Timonen than another Streit. He'd easily be the Flyers best defenseman if he were to be acquired, and he will cost a lot more than a 2nd rounder. |

There are no other contingencies. It more about whether you'd be willing to take on Leino in order to get Ehrhoff at a more discounted rate. |

The point of the proposal is to see if you'd be willing to eat Leinos cap for the remained of his deal in order to get Ehrhoff. |
