Because he threw a pick that doesn't give Weise the right to slew foot .... That's like saying if you hook a guy he has the right to butt end you back ?? - Redmile247
Do you expect us to cry because Dale (frank)ing Weise slewfooted Doughboy? What the hell do you want to hear? It's a dirty play against a dirty team. |

He also tried to take out our best player. However, the Kings always target Lu or one of the Sedins. - golfingsince
It's the school of Darryl Sutter, His brother Brent uses the same tactics in the W and in International play. It usually works. |

No, but in a way, Doughboy should expect something when you pull an obvious pick to one of our goons in such a game. I'm sure everyone of the Canucks was laughing under their breathe when Doughnuts was freaking out. |

Torts has changed the teams mindset. Good for them, the pre Torts team wouldn't have stood up like this one. |

When you see Daniel Sedin aggressively forechecking and laying a big hit on Doughboy it bodes well for the team. |

I didn't think the twins would be "Torts like players", but they seem to be buying in. |

The only guy that showed up to camp in better shape was Santorelli. Torts respects the hell out of the twins. |

I do agree with you that doughty should expect some sort of reaction but just not the slew foot ... That is one of the unwritten rules that players know is not tolerated no matter what |

Your answer is about right ... Some are trying to defend him ... I just see no defense for it
They really shoukd do a 24/7 with these two teams next year |

Dude you're in here acting like LA is a team full of saints. The reality is they target the star players on the Canucks every game. From the opening draw they wouldn't answer for their actions on Lu or Henrik. If it takes a slew foot to Doughty to get a response than it is what it is.
Perhaps you need to take off the blinders. |

I don't think many are defending him really - only saying Doughty wasn't exactly playing clean himself. He didn't deserve a slew foot - it was dirty. Everyone here is in agreement with that.

This, and the fact that the refs didn't do their job, so they left it in the hands of the players to deal with.

The slew foot is/was cheap, no questions. But the circumstances leading up to it, ended in a foreseable outcome. |

The one out clause is against the LA Kings. |

I never said the kings are saints ... But to sum up what your trying to get accross to me is that if you do something dirty and don't answer the bell then your team shoukd expect dirty plays in return ?

That's pretty much how it has always gone in hockey hasn't it? Maybe you'll feel differently if we start taking runs at Monahan then turtling. |

That's the problem with the way things work these days with the stupid instigator rule. If Brown would have answered the bell earlier when others wanted to fight him, or if Nolan would have answered the bell after his slew foot on Sedin then there wouldn't be the need to slew Doughboy. If Nolan wants to slew foot or go after the Sedins or if Brown wants to run over Luongo they need to be ready to pay a price for doing so. And rightfully so. |

(frank) the kings, why is anyone trying to defend them in any way? Their team is filled with cheap shot artists and a couple of the biggest divers in the league!
Nothing short of death of a player should be applauded. I hate them |

I don't think what happened to sedin to start the game was a clear cut penalty ... Nolan ran him and he got out of the way ... Sestito jumps Nolsn and the refs throw the book at him
The assumption that calling a penalty on the first play changes the way the game would go between those two teams is a little off
The hatred for the kings boiled over and that is what we got |

If you heard any post game interviews, it is clear that Torts told them before the game to play a certain style of game. The message was received loud and clear and the Canucks played gritty and outplayed the Kings despite spending the first period short handed. For too long now the Canucks have been too easy to take liberties against. I think Brown and Nolan will think the next time they wanna take a cheap shot now. And I think most Canucks fans hope they play like this regularly. |

The game probably would have been much more tame had Hank just let him drill him and take out his knees. I see your point. |

Ok, I get it. You all hate the Kings, and I agree Nolan turning into a turtle was bullpoop. But Brown running over Luongo? You mean when your defenseman hit him into Luongo? And Brown fought Kesler well before the slewfoot. (I admit I didn't get home until the first intermission, so I have no idea if the Nucks were trying to get him to drop the whole first) I'm hearing a lot of "the slewfoot was cheap but..." It was cheap. The turtle was pathetic. No need to qualify either of those. |

Torts is a genius! Leads the team to a 1-6 run over the last 7 games and has the whole city rallying about how "tough" they are and "statement" game. The only statement I hear is "suck". Must be rough having to play in a real division, huh? No more President's Cups I guess. |
