On another note this team is not as bad as many of us like to think. I am fully on board with Tort's reasoning that much of it is mental. Could we use another top 6 or 3 ? Yes Are we considered among the top contenders? No

However, we do have the defense, goaltending and skill to make some noise.

They are mentioning him to the Canucks on hockey central right now...

Ott is a great all-around player, despite his lower offensive numbers this season.

I'd love to have him on the team, but not as a rental.

If the Canucks are going to make a move for him, I'd want MG to be able to try to negotiate a deal first.

And obviously not overpay.

As another poster said, the Canucks aren't an "Ott" away from being a contender, but he could also help moving forward.

I don't want any rentals this season, so if that's all Ott is going to be, I hope Gillis stays away.
