I like Eller...but...

How many chances shall Eller get until people realize that, although he's a good player, he'll never be a consistent point producer...nor will he ever really embrace a real two-way/shutdown centre role...

I maintain we should trade him for a top-6 winger

- TouenneTiiTree

I think he could become a solid shut down 3rd line center.

But I'd also move him for a winger if the return is good.

Je reçois l'après-match du canadien par courriel avec le sommaire du match.

4-1 Devils.

Mais ils ont quand même laissé le but de Gallagher dans le sommaire.

I never said he was elite, just good enough to get the Ducks deep. Seriously, I would not be surprised at all if the Ducks were upset in the 1st round. I just expect their D to fail them, again.

I wasn't really argueing with you about the whole thing.
It was Marty that compared him to Lundqvist.

I don't think the make the conference final. If they luck into somebody like Minnesota or Colorado they may get through the first round but when it gets down to it Chicago, St Louis, San Jose, LA, Vancouver.....it's pretty tough.

2 star forwards.
several so-so forwards.
a no-name defense.
an OK goalie.

So he's good but not a point producer, two-way player or shutdown guy?

and he'll get a top 6 winger in return?

ok.

I think he thinks he's too good/talented to be a third line center and doesn't want to take on that role...

That's just a gut feeling I have...

Impossible to say who is an untouchable but the names Pacioretty, Subban, Price, Galchenyuk are probably right now the only guys who simply cannot be touched.

With that said, if it's a rumour then I doubt anything happens here because MTL is so closed lipped but for arguments sake i wonder if that big piece from LA is Kopitar?

Kopitar is a great talent, big forward and he was a player the Habs were huge on in 2005 when they ultimately took Price. I also know that the Habs have been big on Clifford as well.

So I ask if this makes sense?

Kopitar and Clifford to Montreal in exchange for Tomas Plekanec, Lars Eller, rights to Dalton Thrower, choice of Tim Bozon or Sebastien Collberg and a high pick?

Marty? Adam?

Thoughts.

He's not wrong though..Eller has age going for him and a decent salary. If he's finding it tough to break into MTLs top 6....yeesh

Yes, because other GMs/coaches will fall in love with his size and his skill and want to be known as the geniuses who saw that in him and were able to get him to play up to his potential...
