That works out yo $1MM per start - IF he makes all his starts.
For a quality start (6 innings, 3 runs or less) that would be $166,667 per inning, or $55,556 per out.
Sounds reasonable.... - StLBravesFan

Evander Kane???? You guys realize he is not very well liked and kind've a piece of crap. - UnnamedSource
What about Wheeler? I know he doesn't play big for his size but the guy knows how to put the puck in the net. I wouldn't trade the Bickell/TT/1st package, but he's worth a look if the Jets are selling. |

Wheeler is a nice player......but we don't need scoring, we need bottom six. A guy who can win face offs, play on the PK, etc |

You could be right.....but he has been injured this year and seems out of sorts....I wouldn't give up on him. - UnnamedSource
I think that playoff effort last year by Bicks took a huge toll on him physically and the road back to feeling good again has been long. The recent injury that sidelined just added extra miles to that journey back to feeling good again.

I know, I should have made it red. Just having fun. I know we aren't the ones who make the deals and we get a little testy sometimes but it's all a lot of fun. We love our Hawks and all have our opinions. To answer your question.. no I wouldn't. I don't think the wheels have fallen off in Chicago. I don't think any major trades are necessary. I know that last year I was really excited about the idea of Iginla when all of that was going around but when you look at a team like the Hawks, they have the talent to win it all again. They just need to find their footing. #2 in the NHL standings is not the time for drastic trades. - PhilMeister89
They just lost 5 of their last 7 games. We could've been dominating the league. |

Absolutely...he had a severe knee sprain but still played.....then adds another knee injury this year....let's give the kid the benefit of the doubt. Remember when some of our fellow posters were calling Q the usual BS when he dropped Bickell to the third in the finals....like overthinking., etc.....then we find out he was injured. There is a lot we don't know..... |

True. I still believe Bickell will turn his game around. He won't be a 40 goal scorer but he can be a 20/20 guy and a playoff monster.
I think I just got over excited about seeing a Blackhawks trade rumor, I was giddy like a kid who ate too much candy at Halloween, or like TG when he watches Pirri play.
Looking back on this deal with a cooler head there's no way I do it, we give up just way too much. But it was fun to talk about.
- DarthKane
I dunno, I like Bickell, I obviously would rather see him succeed than flop, but he has never put up any better than a 37 point season, which was then followed by a terrible '11-'12 season where IMO even his minimum contract overpaid him based on his performance.
Last year was a big step in the right direction, but this season is bad again for #29. The skeptic in me wants to be optimistic.
Like Bolland's whole career in Chicago outside of playoff performances, Bickell's regular season has been a cocktail of injury and disinterest. I'm willing to wait for him to earn his money in the "real season," but poor regular season play will get old real fast if its the same deal for the next three years after this. |

Which makes no sense: what he was doing was just the hard work of getting to the right place, not luckily hitting a couple of 3-pointers or getting a couple of lucky base hits.
If you remember the 23 play-off games, he was always working hard to get in front of the net, stick where it needed to be - working hard to where Toews could get him the puck after it went between Charo's legs.
Why couldn't he continue to do that - unless, now, it's too painful because he knee(s) aren't quite back yet?
I would guess (more hope than belief?) that he gets it back at some point.
But I'm still considering the deal, even with TT. - StLBravesFan
Makes complete sense. Bicks was hitting and being hit almost every game during that 23 game run. He was often being targeted by Lucic and Chara and that takes a toll. He also had off season thumb surgery.
Bicks played very well in the 2011 playoffs before bowing out to have wrist surgery, so maybe he's not a one year playoff wonder. But how durable will he be this time around given his infirmities and ebbing confidence ???????? |

Bowman will not trade TT and he will not trade his first round draft pick. He looks for the bargain "fill" guy like Hanzus was last year (successfully) and Oduya and Campoli were 2012 and 2011, respectively. Bowman is the guy who everyone said "overvalues" his prospects and always KEEPS his first round draft pick.
In 2011, 2012, and even 2013 trade deadline, people, self included, saw a lot of other teams get better by adding a big piece through the trade deadline. This all while the Blackhawks stood pat after being "in" on many deals. This is because of the system that the Blackhawks run in (and it has and will continue to be the system that every NHL team attempts to model itself after).
They are fortunate to have the core they have, but that core costs them lots when it comes to salary cap. Because of that cost, you either have to use old players whose talents are dwindling (as are their cap hits) and hope they have one or two more year left in the legs (Brunette, Brookbank, Carcillo, Mayers, Rozsival, Hanzus) or you draft well, scout well, trade well and manufacture young players, on the rise who are playing on an Entry Level Contract with the hopes to get a nice bridge deal before they're dealt the next off season for more prospects and picks a la Stalberg and Frolik. The Blackhawks are burning the candle at both ends and so far, its worked pretty damn well.
Eventually you will have a prospect who is better, cheaper, and has more upside than the worst "core" player. You hope the cap will be high enough when that perfect storm comes, but if its not, you change the guard. After all, in this league, if you're not getting better... you're getting worse...
I think the Hawks need a move at the deadline this year. But I would bet a pretty penny that it will not include TT or a 1st round pick. |

Sometimes it's not meant to be, Av's win in OT 3-2. Next stop for Bickell a scratch?
