You can be sure that the Hawks know all about the problems on the Jets thru their past affiiliation with Chevy and for sure because a player like Ladd probably stays in close contact with a number of the players. He may have said or texted something like 'man would I ever like to get out of here' and half the team would know it.
Chevy can ask for TT but he will have to give up something of equivalent potential and age to get him, like a Scheiffle which he won't do.
I can see Bowman moving a McNeill and a Swedish Icehog to get something he wants but thats about it. - RickJ
....and probably isn't until salary cap lifts and roster expands after deadline.
Chevy has 3 or 4 pieces there that he can use to trade to build a team...No mistakes allowed if he trades the captain who wants to be there or at least did....His wife is from there.
If I'm Chevy I start with those who don't want to be there and build around a Ladd who could be a Doan or a Capt. Canada like player for another 7 years.
Sometimes it's not meant to be, Av's win in OT 3-2. Next stop for Bickell a scratch?

Bowman will not trade TT and he will not trade his first round draft pick. He looks for the bargain "fill" guy like Hanzus was last year (successfully) and Oduya and Campoli were 2012 and 2011, respectively. Bowman is the guy who everyone said "overvalues" his prospects and always KEEPS his first round draft pick.
In 2011, 2012, and even 2013 trade deadline, people, self included, saw a lot of other teams get better by adding a big piece through the trade deadline. This all while the Blackhawks stood pat after being "in" on many deals. This is because of the system that the Blackhawks run in (and it has and will continue to be the system that every NHL team attempts to model itself after).
They are fortunate to have the core they have, but that core costs them lots when it comes to salary cap. Because of that cost, you either have to use old players whose talents are dwindling (as are their cap hits) and hope they have one or two more year left in the legs (Brunette, Brookbank, Carcillo, Mayers, Rozsival, Hanzus) or you draft well, scout well, trade well and manufacture young players, on the rise who are playing on an Entry Level Contract with the hopes to get a nice bridge deal before they're dealt the next off season for more prospects and picks a la Stalberg and Frolik. The Blackhawks are burning the candle at both ends and so far, its worked pretty damn well.
Eventually you will have a prospect who is better, cheaper, and has more upside than the worst "core" player. You hope the cap will be high enough when that perfect storm comes, but if its not, you change the guard. After all, in this league, if you're not getting better... you're getting worse...
I think the Hawks need a move at the deadline this year. But I would bet a pretty penny that it will not include TT or a 1st round pick. - PuckAndSticks

Standards are cool. - Beaver-Warrior
I basically like all dogs....But not a fan of designer breeds and man made sizes.
There are only 3 real sizes of poodles for example. Toy, Miniature and Standard.
I have a large toy...about 11 lbs and a small miniature about 12 lbs.
God didn't intend for poodles to be 3-4 pounds...or to be super standards
People breed the runts and then breed the largest of the standards to make a new size. |

Give me a mutt any day. - Ogilthorpe2
Nothing wrong with mutts...
The designer dogs now would have been called mutts 40 years ago. But the mutts then happened by natural means.
I rescued a 16 month old poodle about 4 months ago...Really a great experience and a great dog.
