Just busting his chops. It sounds good, especially the martini's with the blue cheese olives. |

Blues don't possess the puck like the Hawks, more of a burden on the goal tender, weakness is more exposed - rollpards19
Other than Schwartz and Tarasenko, real natural offensive talent is fairly limited up front. Blues are a very good team but will never be great unless they acquire a top end #1 center. Playing from behind and chasing the puck against a faster team isn't their strength. They want to get the game into the ditch and beat talented teams that way - what Hitchcock likes. Unfortunately for him, Sutter beats him at his own game most of the time because he has the better goaltender.

Great point, Rick. I think the Kings have a little (just a little) more skill at the top end, too. Both very good teams, though, imo. |

Brandon Pirri factored in like 3 points for Kane all year. Kane's longer point streak was with Handzus, but ignore that. And you realize Stan is in charge of the roster right? Q has never and will never send anyone down to Rockford - rollpards19
Stan builds the roster....Q assigns ice time and has a big say in who stays and who goes.
This isn't like Dale Tallon with Denis Savard....This is a HOF coach that obviously does pretty much what he wants.
The way a GM controls who goes when they don't want them to play is by trading that player.....ie John Scott to the Rangers.

Isn't that what some people are arguing? Whether it's better or worse?
Stan said all off and pre-season was that the plan was to have the kids play. Just one kid is playing. And Q is riding his veterans. And that would be fine if e was playing ALL his veterans. Kris Versteeg played all of 8 minutes despite being 100% Corsi. 100 percent! While Kris Versteeg was on the ice the Blackhawks shot 12 shots on Varlarmov and not a single shot was registered against Crawford, and yet he rides the pine. Same with Bickell. Which is strange because if you're at these games ( And I've been fortunate to be...) Bickell has been really good on the forecheck. But that hasn't prevented him from going into Q's doghouse.
I think overriding the veterans might prove harmful come April. Of course, I can't prove that until the playoffs.
There was a unanimous feeling among this board that Q should pick some players and stick with them. We argued over who those players should be....Nordstrom, Pirri, Morin.. but they're all in Rockford. Morin is still one of the best hawks in CORSI and drawing penalties, which you think a team based on puck possession and a good PP might want.....Nope. Patrick Kane had his best stretch this year with Pirri as his centerman......nope. Nordstrom had a deer in the headlights look with the Hawks, but from all reports he seem to be excelling at the Rock. But they sit while Handzus wheezes and Bickell and Steeger's ice time melts faster than ice in the sun.
Yes, of course it's not all on Q. But I think we're allowed to have an opinion on whether they're the right moves or not.... - yahoodi
Versteeg has been fine but Q didn't rotate his line with Bickell having more issues.
Q said today he didn't mind Versteeg's game....Q talk for Versteeg not being an issue. |

When he's playing well, Kopitar is a real load to handle and Carter is a goal scorer but overall the Kings aren't great offensively either and have trouble scoring.
Anybody watching the Vancouver-Phoenix game? In 2 shifts Martin Hanzel knocked Booth, Santorelli and Henrik out of the game with some nasty stickwork. |

The Kings don't score as much as StL, but I think they're "go to" guys are a little better than the Blues best players. Blues have a lot of depth scoring, but maybe against another excellent defensive team like the Kings, they don't have the guys with the high-level skills needed to beat them. You are right about the goalie, too, Quick was excellent tonight.
I was watching that game, but had turned to COL/NJD for their OT.
EDIT - should point out that the Blues were playing without a high-end player in Steen (especially this year). |

Just saw the end when they were shutout. I guess that was what their 4-minute pp was for. Just saw Avs win in a shootout. Now at 6 points behind us with 2 games in hand. There is still a lot of time left, but I thought the Avs would have come back down to earth by now. Ryan O'Reilly is great |

Maybe the blues are finally going to go through a little slump some people said they would? They didn't look that good last game, either. Hitchcock looked pissed |
