I didn't see the part about TT considered a wing in NHL. - faustus1500
Lots of debate about it. He actually looks more like a C to me. Wiz is convinced he's a wing, and that would be the right side

I love Ladd, but I'm not in love with this deal. - EKolb13
Yeah…the more I digest this, the more I don't like it. I think we need to remember the lessons of past years and stay the course. Bickell may reappear in April, and the same with TT. I say ride on... |

Hi JJ,
Any word on a timeframe for when this might happen? - rtang415
No, but it would obviously be in the next 6 weeks

Strong leader? Looking at the disaster that is Winnipeg and hearing all the talk about that dressing room being a disaster leads me to think their captain isn't much of a leader at all.
I'm sure he's a great guy but he's been a disappointment as far as leadership goes. - AceRatbang
Sure Winnipeg is a disaster but it's a team effort, plus coaching (which has maybe been corrected) to unravel like they have this year.
I have heard many things about their dressing room and for all those wanting E. Kane, he's been nothing but a distraction ever since he's landed in the Peg.
Ladd is doing what he can on his end and yes has owned up to his poor play this year. I think it's hard to judge his leadership based on a mediocre at best team that Chevy's been trying to ice there for the past couple of years. He's been documented as a very strong leader up to now, that part I wouldn't question.

Ladd wasn't even playing in the top six on this team and we're talking about trading Bickell, a prized prospect and a 1st for him
- CBHawks88
You're right, he's an awful player. Comparable, in your estimation, to Michal Frolik.
We're talking about Andrew Ladd, right? |

I have a hard time believing this.
I don't doubt that the Hawks might have asked about Ladd. And I don't doubt that the Jets asked fot TT.
I'm just positive the talks would die right there.
Young , talented rookies that are under cost control are gold in the cap structured NHL. It's what allows you to sign Toews and Kane. It's why Saad wasn't traded. TT is obviously in the Hawks plans.... That he might play top 6 wing or C ( after Paul Goodman works with him...) at minimal value makes him worth 10 Ladds.
This is such an easy deal to turn down it hurts.
Didn't Ladd take some shots at the Hawks on his way out the door? I believe he did. Something about people in the lockerroom and people not being what they seem. Yeah, Ladd's a nice player. or was a nice player. But no thanks.... |

It was inevitable. The 2014 record has allowed us to play GM for the first time this season!!!
[color=red]…when do we get Brouwer back? He's been playing with Ovi, right? He should slot right into our top 6![color=red] |

Most rumors are just about conversations that happen. I am not predicting this trade will happen. Most conversations, 4 out of 5 or more, don't get done. |

He wasn't in 2010, but he could now. Even if he played on the 3rd line that would be fine. Ladd could help the special teams too which is a HUGE improvement over Bickelll. Ladd averages 1:58 PK time per game and 2:46 on the PP. Bickell gets no PK time and averages 0:38 on the PP. - DarthKane
I honestly don't think Ladd is any better now than he was in 2010... Our top 6 is better now than in 2010... PP is top 5 in the league.. PK is improving lately... I just don't see an upgrade on the 3rd line being worthy of TT and a 1st especially when you consider Bickell's playoff production..
I'd much rather make a smaller trade to improve the 3rd D-pairing.... |

Because 1) Q will at least PLAY Frolik on the PK, which he isn't doing with Versteeg, and instead throwing out 19/10/81 more 2)we could potentially resign Frolik to what Versteeg is making now. - resqmed99
I doubt Frolik settles for the same money as his current contract. I guess we'll find out this summer. His production points wise is up this season and it might mirror what he did in Florida. If that's the case, I'm sure he could go to arbitration and get an arbitrator to give him a raise.
Honestly, I really don't feel that a swap of Bickell/Ladd is the issue. It's that I don't like giving up TT for a 3rd round pick who may potentially languish in Rockford because Q may be unsure of his defensive skills or some other BS reason. If they want to get rid of Lodge, then send them Pirri, not TT! - resqmed99
I agree. Or do as Philco suggested, if Teravainen is involved, I'd want Scheifele in return.
That all said, I still don't know enough about Lodge, so I'll be fair and wait for Wiz to reply. However, we ALL have heard of TT, and I guarantee Canada knows who he is! - resqmed99

All fair points. I don't recall public comments Ladd made although I heard some things off the record. Dunno. 3-4 years with Atlanta/Winnipeg might have changed a lot for him.
I will say Teuvo Teravainen could, and likely will, turn out to be a very good NHL player. But the Hawks have a shot at a Cup this year. They also don't have a lot of skilled power players. Ladd brings all that and tons of intangibles.
Would I do this deal, I don't know. I also don't think it's robbery for either side. Value for value, now for the future. |

You didn't convince me...most of of on this site realize it's all for fun. JJ reports what he hears but we all know it's just that. JJ never says "this trade is going to happen", he just lets us know what he knows.
I have a question for the people who don't like this trade. If the Jets included Evander Kane instead of Ladd would you make the deal? |

Thank you for the clarification. I do enjoy reading the rumors and talking about them helps the day go by but this one was a doozy for me to process.

Knowing who Frolik's agent is....he'll be looking for a hefty raise. IMO that factored into the reason he was dealt, Stan knew he couldn't keep him long term. |

His production this season is comparable to Michal Frolik. He's a good player, but certainly not worth TT and a first.

True, but the point of this trade is to win now. Who will give us that chance more? Steeger or Frolik? We can argue the numbers afterward, plus we'd have Steeger and (hopefully) 'Zus off the books. We could pursue another strong PK with F/O skills in the off season.
Dare to dream! |

Vesteeg, no about about it. But you also have to look beyond this season. For the next 2 years do you want Versteeg at $2.2 million or Frolik at $4.0 million? |
