CBJ rapidly falling away from the dogfight in the East wild card race
I would love for us to knock on their door and ask what they want for Nick Foligno
$3.08 cap hit for this year and next. Plays LW, hits a ton, scores goals and can move and down anywhere in the lineup.
We have over $1 mil in cap space, and to put him on wouldnt require too much moving around, likely just decide on 7 dmen, and possibly send Bollig down.
I understand a lot of people like bollig, but he becomes expendable if we get Foligno IMO and we dont really need the 7-8 minutes of ice time he gets some nights on the 4th line - FourFeathers773
I like the BJ's talent and future......play hard every night and well coached. They had some injuries....Gaborik....Horton.....Bobrovsky. I would think Gaborik is a guy that could be had at the deadline. |

I still think this was one of the best questions of all times that a reporter asked a player - "Were you born with 6 fingers? I think it was Jesse Rogers asking that question to Antonio. |

Jesse Rogers.....how he still has a job in the 3rd largest market is beyond me. |

CBJ is not exactly a cash cow to be paying some of those salaries and not making the playoffs
If we could catch CBJ sleeping and move McNeil and say a 3rd rd pick, I would do it in a heartbeat
We can only hope McNeil plays as physical a game as Foligno, and will McNeil ever pan out to more than a 15-20 goal guy in the NHL? Im not sure

Hey, Callahan is exactly the kind of player CHI would love to have right now, hell any team would and I would certainly welcome him with open arms and a pitched tent, but not for TT
Thats a mighty tall winning lottery ticket going the other way. Not too often do WJC leading scorers wind up busts.
We have to also remember that in probably 1-3 years time, Hossa will not be the player he was. TT is the heir to replace some of that offense. I understand, TT is still a prospect, but its probably the most exciting prospect in the Hawks system of the past 10-15 years that wasnt a top 10 pick
If the Hawks pulled the trigger on a TT for Callahan RENTAL, that just screams desperation IMO that the Hawks feel their cup window is this year alone, which is clearly not the case.
I think a team like SJS, VAN, and DET are more likely to make a move and sacrifice like that while they have some high quality gas left in the tank with guys like Datsyuk, Alfredsson, Thornton, Sedins, etc while their windows are rapidly shrinking - FourFeathers773
Oh, in my mind if they made such a move it would not be for a rental, especially when it involved dealing TT.
It's a ballsy move without a doubt, perhaps boarding insane, but you can't disagree that it's uncertain till TT is actually useful enough to win another championship.
By that time you got the majority of the core in their 30's. Will they still be just as effective as they are now? Who knows. It's all speculation.
I certainly love the debate, though. It is exciting as you said to have such a highly toted prospect on a team that's still currently built to win. |

Sure, but not on the Hawks. I wouldn't want him anyways. That guy risks injury just by getting out of bed in the morning. |

Haven't posted in awhile but..... my thoughts.
I agree with some others on this board that Bickell will find his streak. Bickell is not known for consistency, it's his game's biggest problem. When he's on, he's a beast. He scores dirty goals, lays people out, and makes great plays. When he's off, well, we're seeing that now. I would not make the Ladd for Bickell trade if it included TT.
More than Ladd, the Hawks need a 2C. They've won two cups without a legitimate 2C but it's a problem that will eventually come around full circle. I'm not sure who is out there but Sam Gagner comes to mind. I would put TT in a Gagner deal.
Not sure how the money would work though.

They're also being run by John Davidson and GM Jarmmo Kekelainen, who are no dummies. And since their last stop was the Blues which they helped build into a powerhouse and are very familiar with the Blues prospects, look for Gaborik to go there..... |

Oof, the only way I take Gaborik is for some reasonable combination of picks and prospects and they are eating half his salary just to move him and get something back for him

I guess if it came down to trading for a #2C, I could live with Gagner. However, if the Hawks cough up Teravainen in return, I'd want Edmonton to eat half of Ganger's contract. |

wow, Sam Gagner has never lived up to expectations, especially as a 2C
you wouldnt include TT in a deal for Ladd, but you would for Gagner?
My jaw dropped man. The rest of the NHL, inlcuding the Oilers would laugh at us for how bad of a fleece that is
Andrew Ladd is 10x the hockey player Sam Gagner is

further on this. Sam Gagner has a career high 49 points in a season
Shaw is on pace this year for 42 pts while playing 3C. I would rather use him than get Gagner and his 4.8 mil cap hit and losing TT |

Hard deal to make considering PHX is in the Western Conference and always competitive....
Unless a team goes into full rebuild like Winnipeg..or a Calgary... there will not be a team willing to help the hawks in the western conference. Your trade partners will be found in the bottom of the eastern conference.....more than likely. |
