if he keeps improving, one year prove yourself contract for cheap. the list of free agents isn't appealing to me. - -davies-
Girardi,
Niskanen
are pretty good
even Diaz although I'm less enamored with him

why no voracek in the so? - -davies-
That's what I kept saying at the time.
Although I'll admit I didn't expect Couturier to score. So what do I know? |

I think it's likelier you see Letang and Del Zotto moved before July 1 (or July 3, whatever UFA day is) than see Niskanen and Girardi ever hit the open market.
Diaz would be a great pickup. |

Hartnell has been the good Hartnell for a while
maybe he should have sat out last night after being hobbled, blocking that shot
how crazy is it that Hartnell B Schenn and Simmonds has really been their best line lately
Hartnell together with Simmonds just sounds like a fail, given they both kind of bring the same skills to the line - Marc D
yeah that line is definitely a surprise. now i like it, i am so easy to sway. would love to see downie couts read back together. |

I could see Niskanen getting there is Pittsburgh doesn't move him prior to the TDL. Also, I'd like Diaz, that's fine with me. |

DelZotto maybe will be moved, I can see that, and I agree Girardi will likely re up with NYRs. Hopefully at a big number.
I guess I would still be surprised to see Letang leave Pitt. Even with their young guys coming on. |

Because they have enough D to survive without Niskanen, and he would be their major trade chip if a playoff-bound team needs help on D. If he brought in a solid 3rd liner, they'd move him. |

He's one of the few dmen I actually would move B Schenn and/or 1st-round picks for... kid is already awesome, plus he's on an ELC for the next couple of seasons. Really don't think Poile is stupid enough to move him, though. Weber + Jones is a pretty strong backbone for any team to build around. - Tomahawk

for me I'd rather go into a long playoff battle with 8 solid D
I'm biased by being a Flyers fan and seeing what happened with the D going down |

In all seriousness: if you were picking a team right now, would any of you take any other forward besides Sidney Crosby? If so, who, and why?
Is there any other defenseman/goalie you'd take over him?
I look at it this way. Pittsburgh would be better off trading Crosby for _________. I can't fill in the blank with 1 player. |

They've had the most man-games lost due to injury this year, mostly to the back end. They just call up guys as needed and they fit seamlessly. They have somewhere on the order of 10 guys who could play full-time for them. |

No. It has to be Crosby. He's such a game breaker every time he's on the ice. He makes difficult plays look like a thing of ease. I hate the guy, but he's the best. |

TVR up for the Hobey Baker
http://www.hobeybaker.com...baker-memorial-award/vote
I think Ghost has a shot, although Barber and Gaudreau are also good shots. - jmatchett383
I just voted. He's in 3rd place. Not bad. I love how Ghost is the only one with an action photo. Winding up for a big shot. |

I think Mez has a 0.0 percent chance of being back on this team next year.
As for Gus, I don't think anyone has seen enough to say "yup, he's done". I think he needs to see more of the ice before that determination is made. It's not like Gus is Luke Schenn, who despite being only 24, over 350 NHL games under his belt. - johndewar
Isnt that the issue though. He hasn't been consistant or good enough to crack the line-up and stick, and when he does get cups, he gets injured and is out for months at a time. Just not someone I would use a contract spot for when we already have so many questions on defense. |

BOB RYAB, obvs.
Kidding.
It'd be Crosby. I can't think of a better forward right now. |

I personally like Ovechkins game better. Or Stamkos. I don't trust Crosby's health to be honest.
Let me clarify. Crosby is the best player, but I would weigh the amount he is better against his health. If he is better for an average of 65 games a year, yes give me Ovechkin or Stamkos over him. |
