Hopefully in the 9 year 51 million dollar range. |

No offense, but you guys have no idea how long it will be before Morin comes in and makes an impact on the team. The biggest factor is who will mentor him. If that gets sorted, the kid could be up and playing solid minutes next season. If Maata can do it at 19, I don't see why Morin can't pull it off. - wolfhounds
The fact Olli Määttä is thriving on the Pens blueline, while Laughton was non existent in the World Junior tournament is kind of sickening. |

Yeah, I hope that's no indicator of future performance. Flyers need some picks to really exceed expectations. That would be nice. |

Laughton wasn't utilized well at all in that tournament. Maata obviously has been. |

Mason signs contract extension and so far all I've seen is people on complain, beat writers included
Absolutely incredible.
I hope it's 3 years 4-4.5M range |

Uhhhhh Laughton was 4th line center... He was amazing on the PK
MacKinnon was awful in 2013 WJ I guess he's gonna suck too right?
Stolarz was the backup to Gillies better write him off too eh?
Seth Jones wasn't that good either in 2013, he started off very rough, better say that's sickening too!
Sidney Crosby had 4P when he played on team Canada at 16... Geez that's pretty sickening too I guess! |

I didn't like the deal because of the years. If Vinny would've accepted three, I would've been OK with it.
Same with Streit, whose signing I hated, both years and dollars. I would've never gone more than two years with Streit and for no more than 3 mil per. Would that have gotten me either player? No.
But I wasn't banking on BSchenn to take a great leap forward this year so some type of move had to be made for a second line center and secondary scoring. Same with a puck moving d-man. Short of moving future assets once again (ugh) where were we going to find a player capable of filling that hole? Gus? Too risky.
So Homer placed himself in the position of having no choice but to make those two moves if he wanted to keep his future and keep the team above water. He made the best out of the corner he painted himself into by picking up two experienced players who could step in and fill two needs without giving up anything of value. - 77rams
Homer should have gone after Grabovski and Khudobin, but he's too enamored of big names and former Flyers. |

Extending Mason had to be done. It's the smartest thing the Flyers could do. Just hope it's a reasonable length and amount. |

I'm guessing 4 years, 18 million, 4.5 per yr cap hit
If the deal is in that range, I'm very happy with this! |

You are extremely happy!
I wonder why they didn't just wait till the season was over. If his SV% drifted down towards .910 they might have been able to make him accept 3 years/$11 million. Maybe they feel waiting that long would unsettle him and cost them a playoff spot. |

So basically 4.1 million / year for the next 3 for Mason..
Good deal for both parties I think...I like Mason but I think he needs to prove his worth over the course of a full season and see what he does in the playoffs before extending him for more than 3 years. |

Exactly where he should be. A little more than a guy like Pavelec, who he's clearly better than, but still at a level where he has something to prove. Love love love the term |
