Exactly where he should be. A little more than a guy like Pavelec, who he's clearly better than, but still at a level where he has something to prove. Love love love the term - Tomahawk
Somewhat similar to Cory Schneider's deal right? I think Mason is much better than Schneider. |

So basically 4.1 million / year for the next 3 for Mason..
Good deal for both parties I think...I like Mason but I think he needs to prove his worth over the course of a full season and see what he does in the playoffs before extending him for more than 3 years. - opeth_pa
Yup. It's a solid deal for both parties. Now let's find a defenseman to help him out and we're good to go. |

Uhhhhh Laughton was 4th line center... He was amazing on the PK
MacKinnon was awful in 2013 WJ I guess he's gonna suck too right?
Stolarz was the backup to Gillies better write him off too eh?
Seth Jones wasn't that good either in 2013, he started off very rough, better say that's sickening too!
Sidney Crosby had 4P when he played on team Canada at 16... Geez that's pretty sickening too I guess! - FLYERSROCK!
3rd and 4th line centers are at a premium. Puck moving dmen are a dime a dozen. |

The cap hit is a little high, imo, but I'm happy with the term. That's a trade off I'll take everyday. |

For all of those complaining about the cap hit
Mason 14th highest cap hit for goalies next year, and that's without Halak, Miller, etc and company signed
So please enlighten me on how Mason doesn't deserve 4.1M. He'll prob end up being the 17th highest payed goalie in the league next year |

Very happy with the Mase deal.
I just like him.
I don't expect him to carry the team every night,
3 years is nice, maybe they are getting better with their contracts.
Next up Schenner. |

Just a good old negotiating tactic. As for Mesz, he's playing better lately, but if you can get good value for him, why not? |

Miller, Hiller, Halak, Varlamov all have to be signed this offseason
So Mason will end up being the 18th highest payed goalie in the league
Please tell me how he's overpaid. |

Just based on comparables, his cap hit is right on target... maybe even a little low considering he signed in an environment of an increasing cap.
I've given Homer a lot of poop about his contract negotiating skills, but this one is right up there with Giroux's 2nd-contract in how smart it was. |
