Tsn 1260 suggest edm offer sheet subban $10m per over 7 years...3 first rounders gone.
Or acquire ehrhoff and Michalek from phx...
What do you guys think of Klein from nsh? - deks1
(frank) ya... what is 3 1sts... provided Eakins and this team start winning next year... |

I also agree with you about Morris...good guy. I just don't like those stats. AT ALL. You are very correct in pegging me for an old school guy though. No one talked about that shiit years ago when the game was much better (doesn't mean it's not relevant, I just hate it). The game has changed a lot. - JLO961
All games have advanced massively technologically since 'the good ol days'. Any of those Oilers teams from the 80s, sad to say, would get absolutely dummied by the contenders of today. bigger, faster, better trained, more well equipped. Many teams make use of advanced stats now, and not just in hockey. Moneyball was basically a story of how advanced stats can breed winning if used properly. Leafs fans roared with laughter over the assertion that Steen was one of the best 2-way forwards in the NHL because of advanced stats. They're not laughing anymore. |

This and we traded the biggest scapegoat in DD- so it was either Gagner or Smyth... - saskoil21
I know I get roasted for this opinion a lot, but I see Justine Schultz and Yakupov as the main problems with this team. I see ZERO passion from these guys and that is a huge problem on a young team...on any team actually.

Well I wouldn't call them passionless. Yakupov has shown frustration on the ice. I would maybe question how the captain (ferrence) is handling this situation. |

Ekblad, McDavid and another 1st is a high price tag for an offense minded dman |

Pavelski? No. Kadri won't either. Wtf r u talking about? - Jeropotato
I know that but some Toronto fans seem to think they're gonna land Pavelski for Kadri. The dumb (frank)s! |

Id assume a franchise dman and one other top 4 signed makes us significantly better.
Certainly not a contender, but also certainly not 1st overall.
Your defence is only marginally better than ours and u guys have been able to compete for a playoff spot!! Im sure Badly outshot and outplayed most nights is worrisome, but its crazy what the difference between 'bad' and 'mediocre' can do for a team in a league with so much parity.
To be fair; i suppose we'll need a goalie to save our bacon most nights as well. Not impossible to find... |

That's what Burke thought. Be very careful, or you may only end up with one of the highest scoring forwards in the NHL over that time period. Haha, sorry i digressed. It's a risky move. If you think one dman can make you guys climb, then i suppose it may be worth it. But 3 firsts is very steep |

The Leafs have always been guilty of needing instant gratification, hence selling promising talent off for veteran players. |

We have more hole to fill than just one. That would be a bad deal imo. We would be better. But still not where we need to be to compete with the top 4-5 teams In the league. There is no quick fix here. |

Are RFAs timeframe prior to draft? If you offersheet is it your current year draft or the next 3 drafts? |

The thing is, and I mentioned it this morning is tat the League parity is an illusion. All these loser points and shoot out losses make It appear much closer than it is.
If there was 3 points for reg wins, there is a massive spread between the top of the league and bottom.
In the East Pitt would have 100 points, Buffalo 40
In the West Chicago 107 points, Edmonton 51
Huge gaps in parity. |

Parity doesnt neccasarily suggest the worst team in the league is close to the best team. There's no league in the world where this is true.
There's still an obvious hierarchy. But those low teams can beat those teams anytime.
generally speaking and the vast majority are very close. Huge difference between 4th montreal and 11th ottawa?
No
Nyr and nyi?? No
And in this instance; 14th,15th and 7-10th
Of course we have more than 1 hole. But one has to assume, we wouldnt be done with one move.
The cautious approach is the very long game. Abd still as much of a question mark.
We need to get into that mediocre/average group before we become elite. |

I dont know that firing him does anything.
But 7-8 years and no playoffs, with 5 top ten picks in that time is insanely bad |

Also stated that they are not doing any bad deals for short term fixes. Good to hear. So we can put to bed some of these stupid (frank)ing rumours? ???
Probably not....
But to me that definitely puts any types of huge offer sheets out the window. |

Absolves Lowe of any responsibility and pins everything on Mactavish. Unreal. I really wish Katz would just never ever speak. |

I don't think that was what that statement was meant to portray?
I think he was meaning that if people think Lowe is pulling the strings they are wrong. Lowe's role has changed. |

I know Kevin is the target of a lot of personal attacks right now, and that’s really unfortunate. Kevin is a big part of our organization, and it’s not just the Oilers that value his knowledge and perspective. He is consistently chosen, year after year, to play a leadership role with Hockey Canada. But when it comes down to it, this is Craig MacTavish’s team. He is the GM. He makes the calls, and he is accountable for building a team that can compete for the Stanley Cup
However he meant it, that's how it comes off. |

Right but MacT has been in here less than a year. I think he meant going forward this is MacT's team and he will make the moves he believes are correct.
I think SaskOil may be correct. Probably would have been better to say nothing.

The thing is how do you really blame MacT for the mess that Kevin Lowe allowed go on for so long under ST? |
