I still put him (and JJ as well) after Rick Jeanerette (he should have retired 15 years ago) and Jack Edwards (typical Bostonian, and biggest douchebag announcer in sports). - jmatchett383
I have to disagree. Edwards can be a complete homer on some of his calls but overall I have to say he knows his stuff and brings a nice level of energy in his call - way more than the quiet delivery of Doc Emerick. Also Jeanerette's great 'scoooooorrrreeeesss' call and his infamous 'May Day' call are fondly remembered by non Sabres fans. |

Edwards knows his hockey. but his over-the-top homerism just ruins it for me. I get liking your team and all, but he seriously laughed out loud at Randy Jones when he got boarded. That is unprofessionalism at its best.
Jeanerette has a great knowledge of the game. However, at this point, he sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles, and when he gets excited, he sounds like a dying rooster with a mouth full of marbles. Like I said, he should have called it a day 15 years ago.
Coatsey's just an idiot, but the kind I just shake my head at. I literally cannot bear to listen to the other two.
Edit: The May Day call is great...but again, that was the mid-90s, over 20 years ago. Heck, even Gene Hart had to hang them up at some point (he came out of retirement for 2 Phantoms seasons before retiring for good shortly before his death). |

Edwards is smart and knows hockey, but I can't listen to him. He's such an awful Homer that it's ruined for me. But he's not as bad as Steigerwald & Errey with the Pens. Those two are a joke. |

has the giroux/raffl schism been remedied yet? - Crimsoninja
I'm very very worried, this could tear the team in twain. |

Personally Coatsey has to be the worst commentator in the NHL, he makes me wanna puke almost every time he opens his mouth. I just don't see how this guy keeps his job??? Don't blame the players not wanting to get interviewed by this guy. - flyerdude17
Anytime Coates gets to talk he reminds me of a dog riding in a car with his head out the window. He doesn't understand anything that's going on, but he's having so much fun! |

Postgame interview with Coatsey last game. Right as they're cutting over to Coatsey's mic, you hear Giroux scream out "F--- you Raffl!"
I'm guessing we all misheard. It have it on good word that The Shredder appeared in the stands. Donatello, Leonardo, and Michealangelo all attacked him while Raffael ran away down the Flyers' tunnel. I believe it was Giroux screaming, "F--- you, Raffael!" |

After the last game, Giroux yelled "yeah (frank) you, Raff," as the Coatsey interview was about to start.

Good lord.. I can only imagine the scenarios being thrown around in here...
On a better note.. ASF with a nice article that shows how well the Flyers have played since the start of November.. |

I heard Raffael tried to take Giroux's pizza while he was being interviewed. |

They should probably limit his time for the rest of the season. Flyers seem to win when he plays less. |
