Great news for MAB. Hopefully he stays healthy. For today's game I'd like to see them play a full 60, but I'll take another own no matter what. As far as G and Waffle, do you really think it's any big deal. I don't know maybe going to Sochi isn't that great of a deal. |

He is entertaining, but I think he would be more at home in the WWE. - feelingkettle
He's Regis Philbin without the intensity buildup - he starts at the top end and holds it.

If I may-
I like JJ's inflection and calling abilities. I often make dinner while "watching" the game. There's no TV in the kitchen, so I bump my bedroom TV volume up so I can hear it that way. I have adio only....but I can still tell what's happening, I can still tell of it was ACTUALLY a good scoring chance, and JJ paints a clear picture if the game in my head. I can tell if a developing play has a chance.
On the other hand, for example- listening to those clowns on NBCSports, Doc will say something like "here comes _____ down the wing with speed he RIPS ONE OHHHHH AND A SAVE. BY. ___goalie___!!!" So I come run in for the replay to see a great save and it's a replay of a guy flicking a lazy wrist shot on goal from between the blueline and circle.....like what the (frank) |

JJ. Is ok, lets face it all announcers are homers to some degree, some more then others, (Edwards).
I like Jim Hughson, on hockey night in Canada,
Coatsey needs to stop saying twice a game, "I'm looking directly over his shoulder"

HOMETOWN announcers are HOMETOWN homers. That's their job.
But, there's a clear line. You can't be too over the top, but I don't think JJ et al have crossed it |

JJ is fine and I do like Clement when he's around. As far as Coatsey goes, he's not really part of the crew. They go to him now and then, but think of him more as a sideline reporter. A big, drunken Pam Oliver with orange n black shades, if you will. You can completely discount his ramblings, and they shouldn't reflect on the other announcers.
I watch the feeds around the NHL, and Philly really doesn't have a bad staff sans Coates.
Edwards is the worst. Beninati and Steigy are not my favorites, either. |

I agree with this. JJ is obviously biased, but he isn't beyond criticizing his own team and mentioning when they've gotten away with something. He's not perfect by any stretch, but he's better than a lot of his contemporaries. |

All current announcers are pitiful in comparison to the greatest duo of all time: Sam Rosen and John Davidson.

Only thing about Jackson are his "ho-hum" slyly inserted homer calls.

He's actually been pretty good, lately. I'd be more concerned about Coburn and Grossman. |

I generally like JJ and this is a pretty good reason why. I think the past couple years they've all gotten a bit more homerish, but that's sort of what they're supposed to do. I do suspect there's some kind of expectation from bosses as far as calling the game a bit in the Flyers favor. Guys that don't do this maybe don't have any pressure to do so.

yeah, he's definitely biased. I agree. And he SHOULD be to a degree. He's the Flyers' announcer, not the NHL's.
look, passive aggressive comments like that are annoying, no doubt. at least it isn't over the top whining. be thankful for that. not every play-by-play team is above that. |

JJ and Clement are the worst homer duo in the league. Between JJ's orange shades. "they say it's onsides", and clement sounding like he's having an orgasm when the flyers miss a scoring chance. It's puke city

not a big fan of JJ ... but I'd MUCH rather hear him call a Flyers goal than Tim Saunders.
My ears hurt when Saunders does that high-pitched "he SCOOOOOOOREsss" that he does.

and yes, Keith Jones knows his stuff. |
