This is game-calling the way I remember it...no stories during play, just the action on the ice. Ah, the good ol' days.

But then how can you buy a Santa Sack?
And how will we know the quote of the day, where Mark Streit talks about how he's helped Raffl adjust to the NHL life? |

In general, Philly has been spoiled over the years. Not every announcer is gonna be Gene Hart, Harry Kalas or Merrill Reese.
Following them is not gonna be easy.
While we're on the subject, I think its a shame the combo of Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen weren't interested in the TV gig to replace Wheeler and Sarge. Those two are solid and have a great rapport together

Only thing about Jackson are his "ho-hum" slyly inserted homer calls.
i.e. "And they say it's onsides..." - jmatchett383
He also says that when it's the Flyers who are marginally onside. |

this. i dont know why, but it bothers me how they are so slyly placed in there. i feel like id rather him blatantly be biased. all in all though, he is a fantastic announcer of the game as far as conveying the action goes. |

Do we know a) why Wheels got sacked from calling games and b) who's replacing him and Sarge?
By the way I loved Sarge I thought he was (frank)in hilarious. My impression of him is right on the money if I do say so myself |

He does, but the inflection is different.
When the Flyers do it, it's optimistic, like finding a quarter in the washing machine.
When the other team does it, it's a horrible call by the ref, like finding the washing machine drain hose backed up.
Everything can be explained it terms of washing machines. |
