He was playing really good hockey when he finally came back from injury but he's now blown out a knee again. Not sure if its the same knee or not, but he'll be in tough to get qualified for another year.

I remember the days when RC had him penciled in on the Oilers roster. Can't miss prospect.

Ehrhoff, campbell, tyutin

Niskanen, Gilbert, Kulikov, Scandella, Nikitin, gardiner

Kulemin, Moss, winnik, kruger, kopecky-ish

dubinsky, zajac, anisimov

reimer, hiller, halak

- oilerfan94

I'd sure like to see the Oilers go after UFAs: Kulemin and Nikitin.
And since were stocking up on Russians should say good bye to Steve Smith and hire Igor Larionov to coach the D. He could teach Yak a thing to two about playing in his own zone.

No we couldn't trade him for anything. I would give him a one year deal to get his poop together as good as he was playing. But that would be the last chance. I had really high hopes for him when he was drafted but he's just been a string of injuries since then

Every oiler fan for the last 4 years. They think he is worth 10x more than what he actually is...

Its actually the other way around. Other teams fans think the oil should just trade one of the kids for d and everything will be automatically peachy.

Most of us oil fans know the pieces we need are going to be very difficult to acquire and won't come for spare parts....

- Iggysbff

I'd say it's the opposite. Most oil fans are like leaf fans, think there spare parts are gold. Leafs seem to think gardiner and others will fetch a mega return. For years, Oil fans thought the same about Hemsky. If either could fetch a decent return, I think they would be gone.

And I think trading from a position of strength to add to a significant weakness could only help. Upper management seems to think there problems will fix themselves and to stay the course, but it just doesn't work like that. Poor drafting and bad decisions have truly come back to bite them in the ass. And I'm not necessarily talking about there first overall picks either... 2nd, 3rd, 4th round picks etc. can go a long ways in a re-build. . They also think all their prospects from there 'amazing drafting' are just gonna magically become NHLrs who can right the ship....this is the message I get from there lack of doing anything to improve this team...what happened to MacT being impatient. Seems like a crock of crap to me... Trading dubnyk, acquiring scrivens does nothing. Team won't just all of a sudden improve....

I'd take Jay feaster as my gm over some of the schleps they oilers have had in office. Ok, that's a lie, but you get my point.

Yes, and knowing Oiler fans (in Edmonton especially), they would likely think that trading Ryan Smyth, a few pucks and some broken stick blades would be enough to acquire both...

They will then flip Ales Hemsky for two first round picks as well! LOLOL!

People in Edmonton have no clue what they need, they think the team will just 'turn the corner' on their own...they have been waiting for that for some time now...

A lot of 'Oil Change' needs to happen for this team to right the ship. Starting with management and trickling down...

And Poor Ben Scrivens... his education will come in handy now as he will be unemployed in a couple years, thanks to the Oilers.

-- Cue the Oil fans making fun of other franchises now to try and deflect from their poorly run team...pretty much every other franchise though has had more success than you in the last 6 years... even Florida. Yikes.

If the oilers were smart they would try to get Hjammer from the hawks, and package ganger in the deal and im sure bowman would swing it, that way it complements both teams and gives kane his missing piece to the 2nd line

You would consider moving Hjalmarsson in a deal for Gagner+?

No thanks. Rather go after another veteran for the left side that'll allow us to ease in our youngsters.

I doubt Muzzin maintains anything close to the Corsi numbers he has in LA if he plays for us. His top linemates are Doughty and Kopitar. Let that sink in for a second.

So what would you want packaged with Gagner? Keep in mind we don't have a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick this year.
