I understand this line of thinking, and it is likely correct. I promise, I get it -- I've said as much.

But I think it's a little over-the-top for those of us who believe that defense needs to be fixed now are now completely crazy -- there are bad moves that could be made, sure. But standing pat is not guaranteed to be a GOOD move, right?

Michael Del Zotto just got flipped for a guy six years older than him, so I would say that it's pretty clear that not every team believes that nurturing youth is always the way to go.

I believe they can make meaningful moves without moving Simmonds, B Schenn or Couturier -- as long as we lose this mentality that it's either a grand slam or fail.

1. They tie it up
2. they take a dumb penalty
3. they kill it off
4. they make a bad play right after killing the penalty
5. Columbus scores
6. Flyers end with a flurry but don't score
