Yes but the lack of effort is a big problem. If they could play a full game instead of a period or two, it would go a long way. - LJF
I think the problem is, this team is not good enough to play with a consistent offense. Now that Berube opened up things a bit, they can't handle it.
I think they're a bad team and they know they're a bad team. Hence, the lack of effort. |

G is a good player, but I'm not sure if he is a good captain. I know the lack of 60 minute effort has been a problem for the Flyers for years, but I put that on the captain and the other leaders on the team. I just can't handle the lack of effort. Does anyone else wonder what this team's identity is? - LJF
I don't think the effort is as bad as it appears. It's the overall slowness of the team that makes it look like they're not giving a 100%.
If this team had a couple of players to add some serious speed and quickness the effort would correspondingly appear better. |

The Flyers emphasized strengthening their defense core in the draft last year, taking a defenseman with their first two picks. I hope they do something similar in the draft again this year. They're set at forward for the next decade or so, but their D is flat out terrible. In today's NHL the free agent market isn't what it used to be with all the big names changing teams often and even more so with defenseman. That puts even more emphasis on the draft instead of rebuilding an area of weakness through free agency. I think they'll make a trade very soon, but there just isn't a quick fix for this defense. As much as I wanna see the Flyers defense broken up and re-shaped because they're so God awful; they're only going to get better through the draft. - TonyBazz
we are not set at all in forward we have no pure sniper and too many grinders |

+1. I didn't see this before my last post. Flyers need to get assets for the players they don't expect back instead of trading picks for aging vets they think van get them in the post season. The teams best days are ahead and not in the immediate future.

So you wanna be sellers at the deadline? What players are the Flyers not expecting back besides Timonen and Meszaros? There's really nobody and I don't think they'll get much for Timonen and certainly not much for Meszaros. |

Literally anybody over the age of 26 that other teams ask about, including Read and Coburn. |

Downie, Mez and possibly Timmo could net assets. I was more in favor of this last year, but to continually chase mediocrity is fruitless. It's not an overnight solution, but with a cap this organization needs to realize FA and $$ won't solve your problems. Heck, you trade a few of those you may be able to trade cap space for a pick or two (if that's legal). |

I said not expecting back. Not possibly, maybe, debatably expecting back/maybe be traded. Big difference. |

This team needs to wake up. Pissing away points. They're much better than what they are. But they're not as bad as they're playing.
This team is all about confidence. When they have it, they are great.
When they don't, they suck. |

like we have a choice, like it mattered?
as if it would have made a difference?
I think this is the point where Holmgren should hang it up, its time for his successor to take over & see what he can do with this mess.
we need a new philosophy, a new culture, this isn't going anywhere, and the opponents get harder as we move on.
guess it's finally biting them in the a$$ that the goalies can no longer stop 35-40 shots a night
really frustrated after this one |
